We somewhat enjoy the fact this loser is still focused on us, as perverted as he is. We don't mind or even care he can't seem to let it go. It means WE WON! And he LOST!

We are proud to have helped protect the public from this shyster.

Remember to do your homework and fully check out any contractor before hiring them.

Wonder what the next pathetic response will be from that loser? Don't care. We won!

Another comment posted by the ubiquitous “Anonymous” on 6/12/11, and he should know being a Re-Bath “insider”…or is it “EX-insider?...?:

“FYI. None of these people have worked for Rebath for sometime.”

We have no proof of that claim being correct, as the author prefers to hide behind his nom-de-plume, as generic and unimaginative as it is, therefore its value is debatable, but it is not a surprise from the way they (yes, Re-Bath) conducted business, hence the reason for this blog.
(Interestingly the Re-Bath of California webite links now say “ACCOUNT SUSPENDED”. Seems like a fitting balance in the grand scheme of the world…)

Again, since that claim is OBVIOUSLY being made by someone associated with Re-Bath, either currently or in the past, how accurate can it really be?

We, as stated earlier, were made aware that one raging jerk of a franchise operator had lost his franchise due to threats he made after ripping us off. After reading so much online about how Re-Bath operates, it is a wonder how they are even still in business as a whole. Also, as we earlier mentioned, it appears he is still trying to rip people off doing the same crap under yet another business name. That info came from online sources linked to the Re-Bath of CA on Willow.

In regard to that last sentence there is this…

Also posted by someone hiding behind the moniker “Anonymous” (could it be the same person?) on 4/1/11:

“We are the only Luxury Bath dealer in the south land. If you have a problem with our company please call or email us. We would like to address your concerns. Otherwise, Luxury Bath is a trademark and we need to defend it. The Rebath company you are refering in your post is no longer in business and was never a part of the Luxury Bath franchise.”

If the proprietor of the above referenced Luxury Bath thinks we are putting out incorrect info it should be re-stated that the discussed info came from Re-Bath of CA’s online public listing. Same old Re-Bath phone number was even listed as was the email info!

Now who wants irony? The web address "www.LUXBATHCA.com" as provided by that rejected Re-Bath franchise operator when he claimed to now be a Luxury Bath franchise takes you to the EXACT same “ACCOUNT SUSPENDED” page as trying to access the Re-Bath of California web address. Hmmm, more than JUST a coincidence?

LET’S BE CLEAR!
We never claimed to have a problem with “Luxury Bath”. Only pointed out that the Re-Bath of CA had stated they changed their name (after being kicked out of the Re-Bath family…) to “Luxury Bath”. Don’t shoot the messenger…

It is also interesting how you can be the ONLY Luxury Bath in the southland if the Willow street address is/was also a Luxury Bath at the same time. Seems you have an issue to address of someone claiming something different than you are stating. (Sounds a little like Re-Bath in that respect…)
In reality, it is your problem (Mr. Luxury Bath) if a snake (or weasel) is misleading the public by claiming it to be his business. Maybe you should confront him? Not sure if that could be simply done by looking in the mirror or not.

It is also amazing how after all this time, Re-Bath agents, (OK maybe EX-agents is a better term…) are still posting comments in this blog...

Remember, everyone, do your home work BEFORE contracting with ANYONE to do any work. Look at how many bad reviews there are for Re-Bath across the country. There is a reason for it. And since the franchise that did so much damage to our home has been disallowed the use of the Re-Bath name, and then claimed to be doing the same basic stuff using “Luxury Bath” as their business name, is it not wise to do your homework here too?

If they are not the same outfit, one would think they would be pleased to prove they never had any association with Re-Bath, or Bath-Pro (Re-Bath of California was Bath-Pro before they were Re-Bath, see earlier posts in this blog for full details). But if it is the same people, shouldn’t that history be made public to you too? Don't you want to know who you are letting into your home?

Protect yourselves consumers. Ask those pertinent questions. Check the contractor’s license number, it is free online. Verify the company name and owner’s name. Do they all check out correctly? Are they up to date? (And don’t trust the BBB, if the business is a paying member, they get a much better rating they possibly really deserve.)

More continued shameful and shamful activity from a Re-Bath franchise and the same apparent lies from Re-Bath corporate.

Sent on April 11, 2011, this is yet another persons story: (We added the bold type.)

"Re-Bath in Seattle,WA area and Re-Bath Corporate are equally bad. 4/11/2011 I am coming up on a year after the first faulty install and since then Re-Bath corporate have been to my house several times.

Every time, including initial install, there is damage done to the walls around the tub and shower.

To date, I have spent over $1000 on drywall and baseboard repairs and painting. I could live with it if it was now done right but it is not!

The handle for the water mixer is loose, the shower head is tightened so hard that I can't replace it with a water saver shower head. (My water bill has gone up since they replaced the hardware the last time and I don't even like what it looks like now).
The pipe coming out of the wall with the shower head is not very tight and "wiggled" when I tried to get the shower head off.

The caulking is horribly sloppy and all over the place and still it is coming off!!
I could go on for hours but having already lost several days work ($$$) to try to get this done I will most likely find a good attorney and sue this rip-off company.

I have never sued anyone but this company should not be allowed to operate the way they are.
They make promises and then you never hear from them again.

I have dealt with 3 different people at corporate and they are all liars.

I'm pretty sure they are waiting for the 1 year to have gone by. I'm sure there is some fine print somewhere that says they are not responsible after a year."

We share your frustration and wish you luck in getting some compensation. We took legal action and are glad we did not let them get away with everything they tried to rip us off for. As far as we could tell they have NO ETHICS and will likely attempt dispicable actions if you try to sue or just deal with them.
Be strong and take some comfort in knowing you have many other Re-Bath victims rooting for your success.

Remember, everyone, like we have been saying, do your home work BEFORE contracting with ANYONE. Look at how many bad reviews there are for Re-Bath across the country. There is a reason for it. Maybe it is the terrible work they have done and a total lack of ethics and honesty? You be the judge.

Regarding The Power of the Pen - Just To Be Absolutely Clear…

We have no wishes for any contractor anywhere to not be able to operate legally and earn an honest productive living.

On the contrary, we hope there are more reputable contractors are in the proverbial pool available to the public.

It can only serve to create competitive pricing and better workmanship. That translates to more satisfied customers and likely repeat business for those reputable contractors. Win-Win don’t you think?

If the knowledge of what to check for before contracting with a business saves some people the aggravation and costs of dealing with a less than reputable or professional contractor, how can that be construed as a negative? Unless you are one of those unscrupulous contractors maybe?

The onus of ethical behavior is upon the business and/or contractor, and if that responsibility is not met, it is not the customers fault. And it should come as no surprise that the word of bad service travels farther and faster than that of good service.

Contractors: Don’t get mad at the consumer if you fail to follow the rules and laws in place, or get caught lying to or cheating a customer. You need to take responsibility.
Expect the customer to tell others what transpired. If you are lucky it will be recognition for a job well done. If you are less than ethical, you deserve what you get when they share the truth publicly.

We are only offering this information to help enlighten the public to protect themselves from the contractors that are out there not being honest, ethical or operating above the laws of the applicable areas they may work in.

Remember, this blog was only started after and because we were taken advantage of by an unscrupulous, dishonest and unethical contractor and the refusal by the parent company to take responsibility when our home was seriously damaged by Re-Bath. If they had acted ethically and made proper restitution, we would not have felt the need to share our experience.

Who Says The Power Of The Pen Is Diminished? Just A Public Service Announcement...

Well, now it appears the operator of the Re-Bath franchise that caused us so many problems (Re-Bath of California located in Signal Hill/Long Beach) has once again changed the company's name.
We were confident it was only a matter of time before that operation exhausted the pool of customers available in that area by their practices and would have to change names again.

Yes, prior to ripping off people (like us for example) under the Re-Bath name, it was the Bath Pro name they were doing the same business under. And before that it was another name according the Better Business Bureau records. We noticed the pattern of changing the company name but continuing with the unethical conduct and shoddy workmanship back in 2008 when we contacted the BBB. They had a list of complaints attached to that address.

Now while the domain name of www.REBATHCALIFORNIA.com routes you to the new company, its company name is NOT Re-Bath.

How does that work? Is that being honest or ethical?
Would it be right to use www.toyota.com to route internet traffic to Kia?
The location is listed as the same Signal Hill CA address and says they are now using "Luxsan" products. What is the real honest story?

What about Re-Bath being the absolute best product? Hmmm, hogwash and snake oil you say?
Only putting this out for full disclosure. Really, if this "Luxsan" product has been around for twenty years, and Re-Bath was the best according to this same franchise only three years ago, why the switch? Why now?

And why keep the Re-Bath name for the website? Is that legal? Ethical? Yes we are repeating, but only because it needs to be addressed by any potential customer.

Wonder if the Re-Bath Corporate people are aware of and/or OK with having a tarnished ex-franchise, and now apparently a competitor to them, vying for the same market share and still using the national brand's (copyrighted?, trademarked?) full name as his web address?
Yes, why the misleading web address...?

Are we not allowed to wonder such things?
We can only assume (is it too much to hope?) this outfit has finally wised up and obtained the proper licensing, (althought with the misleading web address it is tough to reconcile...), as was lacking while plying this "trade" when dealing with us. But we would not be surprised in the least if they have continued in the illegal ways that caused us (and that responsible party) so many problems.

If you speak up and go public using legal First Amendment channels when you are wronged and/or cheated by a business, you can make a difference and maybe help others become aware of what is out there.
Share your honest experience, otherwise the assholes of the world may get a pass, or worse, screw someone else, someone you may know and care about.
Granted we did not come out ahead in this ordeal, but maybe we enlightened (alerted?) a few people about our situation and experience and they were able to make an informed decision on their own. If they chose to steer clear from the nightmare of dealing with a less than ethical contractor, they are better for it.

As we have been saying, do your homework. This includes checking about how long a company has been doing business by the name they are using NOW.
Just because they say they have been doing such and such for 15 odd years, check and see how long they have been doing it under the current name.

After all, who thinks the sales pitch from for example, the newly formed Luxury Bath of California, is going to include the information of only being in business for a short time?
No, it is likely the pitch will include all the "many years of experience" accrued as other companies. (That is not a lie is it? What is a lie of omission? Not claiming this is a case of that!)

But certainly polished up a bit, you know, without the baggage of Re-Bath problems (like dissatisfied customers that feel like they were rip-off royally by this company under a different name…) no doubt. At least that is what we would presume is what will happen...
And to be fair, we did predict the name change quite a while ago… But of course, it is only supposition on our part, we are not saying this has happened yet.

Also whenever you are going to hire a contractor, check the names on the licenses! And check if they are they current. Often, some contractors forget to change the names on those licenses, it was one of the tools we used to track down our problem contractor's past daliances. If there was a recent name change, especially away from a more recognizable brand, it might be considered as a red flag. Dig a little deeper... Ask "why"? Then try to verify the answer you get.

We used to take people as being inherently honest. After this nightmare with Re-Bath, we don't.

Honest people should not be offended when you ask for references and to back up what they say.

Although in this case, due to our dealings with the whole lot of Re-Bath agents we did, we can understand how it could be a plausible excuse that a franchise owner would want to distance themselves from the corporate name branding.
But in our perspective, that is NOT the case here.

It appears that the Re-Bath of California franchise was terminated from the Re-Bath family by Re-Bath corporate. Maybe someone should ask “why?” before contracting with whatever company dujour is occupying the Signal Hill shop and doing essentially the same work?

Maybe it was those graphic threats sent about offering to do violent bodily harm to Re-Bath executives...? Maybe it was something else? Inquiring minds should want to know...

Why are we discussing this? To offer to and allow the public to have more information than what may be available at face value so they will be able make an informed decision if they choose to. More information makes the process easier and safer for the consumer. And if the contractor is operating ethically and honestly, they should have nothing to hide, don'tcha think?

Do your homework folks, background checks are easier than ever and sadly more important than ever too.

But Wait, There’s More! Very Bizarre Part 3

We are sure it was Mr. Summy who made a reference (a quote?) in a comment he sent us on 10-8-2008:

"The whiny whimper of a cheater who has been taught a lesson.."

Why do we think it was him?

Because, this post was never published publicly in our blog.
We moderated it and refused to publish it since there were some other disturbing comments along with it.
So it is not only unlikely, it is impossible to be a coincidence for him to have just pulled it from the air.

What does it mean? Has anyone heard of that phase before, (or since)?

What is more important is how it ties this individual to the comments and threats he was “stalking us” with and also posting in a clone blog meant to be mistaken for this (our)blog to embarrass us, or worse.

The strikingly similar quote in his bogus clone blog he posted on 4-7-2010, an entire year and a half later:

The whinney whimper of a cheaper being taught a lesson"

Note that his spelling and writing skills as a whole are weak and in the same vein as this minor deviation in the spelling of “cheaper”.

We assume he meant “cheater” like the first time he used it, but that is just a logical guess.

Sure is damning evidence it was done by the same person is it not?
Who else could have done it? No one!
The same person clearly authored both posts.

In the Profile section in the fake clone blog we contend he created to libel us, Randy Summy had created this fictional and twisted background; we assume he based the sick stuff on his own personal preferences, pure assumtion, we do not know him personally.
But the fact remains that this included our actual personal information (which we deleted here), something never made public and only he (and his accomplice(s)) knew.

Cleary, this evidence busts him as the one doing this dreadful stuff simply (we assume) as retaliation for us not allowing him to get away with ripping us off. Shows us how much of a vindictive son-of-a-bitch he truly is, you can make your own decision...

Here is the entire fabricated profile we contend Randy Summy posted using our name and location to try to defame and damage us. This was retrieved from the now defunct blog site he (and/or fatbutterfly2) created at(http://rebathsucks.blogspot.com/) on 5-7-10 :

It appears we never finished answering the question (or exposing the truth) about those homosexually charged “fatbutterfly2” posts.

We commented about the first one posted and never followed up.
Why is it still important or even relavent?
Because this person went out of his way to maliciously cause us harm when he was not able to manipulate us and we think it is only fair to let the public know the whole truth of the matter, what they may expect should they choose to do business with him or one of his companies. We apologize for the delay.
(Had it not been for "Anonymous" posting that "homosexual bashing" comment, we probably have not have finished the response), but we digress...

The second malicious and phony "clone blog" post was posted at www.rebathsucks.blogspot.com on 4-6-10 and was a plagiarized copy of a blog entry we posted back on 7-22-08 but he filled it (poorly) with his disgusting libelous lies and twisted the content. We have no doubt this rewritten tripe was posted by Randy Summy and/or his companion fatbutterfly2:

Although he said he could be reached Saturdays, we got a message saying the office was closed. We left a message asking him to respond via phone or email, and repeated our phone number to make sure he couldn’t say he didn’t have it. I also called Heidi Seyler.
I spoke to Heidi and she is a bull dyke if ever I meet one. She has the nerve to state that she doesnt get involved with "gay stuff". The nerve of her to call me gay. The most I can be called is gay curious. I have yet to meet the weasel.

Please note we had witnesses to the actual event of the only time he was at our home, in case you thought for a second there was one iota of reality in that sleaze-fest of his probable fantasy. Makes us really wonder if he was not writing of his own slutty homosexual desires. After all, it shares a twisted commonality with many of the comments he sent to us at other times. We think this shows he is a sick bastard. After all what do you think of a person who would make up that "story" and publicly attribute it to a past customer that they mistreated?

Hmmm Something Seems Somewhat Familiar About This “Anonymous” Comment...

As you can see in the comments section of responses to our blog post titled Very Bizarre, “Anonymous” wrote:
"I would have to say your hate blog is homophobic, gay bashing and anti-female, Mr. Helpful Hal. Why do they allow you to post such thing?"

So... We’d like to respond to that “Anonymous”:

Hate blog? Since when is trying to protect the public by sharing a truthful story of a home repair nightmare a hateful action?
Anyone else find anything we wrote to be "homophobic", "gay bashing" or "anti-female"? Didn't think so!

We had to wonder how long it would take for a weasel to drag itself out of the gutter sludge and how ignorant they must be to come to that “conclusion” considering the facts that were posted in this blog.

We made no comments that could be construed as homophobic or anti-female by anyone who can read at or above a second grade level.
However, yes, we do hate what Re-Bath and Mr. Summy have done to us and our home, but that does not make this a “hate blog”.

Clearly the troll who wrote this referenced comment has either an inability to understand simple English, or just wants to be a jerk, (maybe they can’t help it? We have met such an individual...). In addition, what possible benefit to this discussion did they think could be made by posting such a red herring of a comment? Or is that the best they could do to tes the waters and see if we were still monitoring the comments to our blog? What a moron for insinuating we wrote such tripe. (That's not gay-bashing or anti-female, it's social commentary.)
Yes we monitor the blog, but until this didn't see too much that warranted us to add to it.

And to answer your lame question, "They” allow us to post these truths and opinions due to the First Amendment. Same reason as you are allowed to post the misleading comment you did. Try to enlighten yourself before exposing your lack of cerebral acuity next time.

By the way, (Mr and/or Ms "Anonymous") your comment reads as if it was written by fatbutterfly2 herself or someone else mentioned in this post… And in addition, it follows a pattern we have been tracking from earlier posts made to this blog. Hmmmmm.....interesting...

It is very sad when a disreputable contractor who got busted for illegal practices harasses the customers he cheated for years afterward.
Just serves as a reminder to do your homework before contracting with any home improvement company or person, lest you get the same treatment we have been subjected to.
We found out too late the Re-Bath franchise we contracted with was operated by a dishonest and vindictive jerk. Apparently it is the way other Re-Bath franchises operate as well from what other people have posted within this very blog as well as all over the internet...

This comment was posted to our blog on 9-6-10:

"I want to know who Fatbutterfly2 is. I saw that posting about you trying to pick up on and harass the salesman and wondered why it was posted by someone other than Helpfulhal."

It brings up something we wondered how much had been seen and originally decided to ignore publicly. But things have changed now that it has been brought up and since we found out who we believe the author is. Rather than responding to it in the underlying comments section, we thought combined with what we learned semi-recently, and the fact someone asked about it openly, warranted clearing our name on the front pages of the blog.

To be clear, it was NOT HelfulHal that posted those fatbutterfly2 blog posts.

That was a “clone” site that “Fatbutterfly2” created and posted to make it look like HelpfulHal was a disgusting homosexual hawking pervert. Not even the same web address as our blog by the way. Whoever did it created one page, then copied and (poorly) edited/corrupted a page from our blog, and inserted some nasty allegations. A very sick mindset to be sure by someone who knew way more details than we ever allowed to be shared in out blog. (Those sensitive items will not be shared by us even at this time.)

Information only known to Re-Bath employees. And we really doubt the corporate side would delve to these depths. Considering some of the other comments we received, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out. (And how do you know that HelpfulHal is or is not a rocket scientist...?)

Bizarre posts with intent to paint us in a negative light that immediately lead us to believe that the same manager/owner of Long Beach/Signal Hill Re-Bath was responsible. While it has subsequently been taken down, we did make a copy of it before it was removed. We are concerned this has come up as we thought it was gone, but feel it is our right to try to clear our "name".

But interestingly enough, as much as we had our opinion it was done by this pain in our ass, (since he posted a comment to our blog directing us to view it). Imagine how astounded we were to see what appeared to be the answer to who did this when we were in court (again) because of this ongoing nightmare, and saw him and his female companion. (Ironically we assumed he was gay from the first time we met him, but it is irrelevant, at least we thought it was at the time.)

We noticed on the left inside calf of Mr. Summy’s companion’s leg a tattoo of a rather chubby (fat) butterfly!
If it was not her, (and we are confident it was one or both of the two), who posted those disgusting perverted posts, why did she become so upset when this observation was made to the Judge connecting the screenname fatbutterfly2 to Mr. Summy by way of his plump female companion and her tat-2?

Circumstantial? OK, so provide us with another more logical explanation.

Just to show how low Mr. Summy stooped to harass us, not content with just unfoundedly suing us (and not losing), here is a sample of what were are sure he posted.

We checked it out. It is one we did peruse earlier and found many similarities nationwide to the way we were treated by Re-Bath.

This is pertinent since the owner of the Re-Bath we first dealt with claimed we were the only ones “bad-mouthing” Re-Bath.
Pretty much conclusive proof we are not the only ones who have had problems with this company and have been sharing our experiences about those problems. And compare the similarities. Almost shocking, but then we had to live through it and know firsthand the nightmare…

Note that we have been invited to share on this site, and that we have not already shared our story on this independent site. Kind of shows the invalidity of the statement made in court by that Re-Bath owner doesn’t it?

Do your research. Check out all available information before contracting with Re-Bath or ANY contractor.
Verify licenses if possible too. Our state allows you to do this online at no charge.
Be wary of any contractor that does not have his licensing in proper order.
Double check the names to verify the person’s name on the license and the person who is doing the work.

Be wary of fast talk to explain any discrepancies.
And get everything you can in writing, and double check the wording.

Have friends also check to see if there is any ambiguity (double-talk) written into it to provide wiggle room.
Despite what you are told, get it in writing.
Some sales people lie and say one thing, yet write another and will try to convince you to “trust” them. Don’t. Not any contractor.
If they are reputable, they will put it in writing. Clearly. Suggested routes

Addressing A Complaint of Bait & Switch

This is a photo of the actual sample of material we were shown by the salesman.

He kept saying it was a quarter inch thick. (0.25”)
Note the measurement shown on the digital calipers.
0.131”, a little more than half of a quarter inch.

Granted, we knew it was not a quarter inch, but subsequent conversations to other Re-Bath professionals also stated the wall panel material was ¼ of an inch thick.
Why was the thickness so often referred to as a quarter of an inch thick? Don’t they know/see the difference? Maybe they didn’t think anyone would check? Or know? We can’t answer that.

Since the salesman showed us “the actual material” the mistaken use of a description of a larger size does not make it a Bait & Switch issue.

But wait! Now look at this photo of the actual material that was installed, we kept a remnant to prove what we noticed, that it is not only less than a ¼ inch, but it is less than the sample thickness of 0.131 too.
It is also a softer material. Not just softer due to being thinner in our opinion, but it seems to be a different density too.

To be fair, we did not measure it at the formed edge; that area is even thinner due to the stretching around the bend.
Notice the thickness? Only 0.093 inches thin. That is a difference of 0.038” from what we were shown and sold to what was installed. That is less than 71%. Well under three-fourths the thickness of what we were sold, now that meets the definition of Bait & Switch don’t you think? Let alone the difference in the density of the material.

Here’s something that is a quarter inch! But it is just the sample of accent colors…
Now maybe this is what the sales people are thinking of when they use that line about the wall panels being ¼ inch thick. It is not true, and wouldn’t you want a more knowledgeable sales person than one who can’t understand these differences? Yep, more supposition on our part, thinking out loud as it were, we don’t know why.
But we do know that what we were told/sold did not match what was installed.

A lot of complaints online list Bait & Switch as one of the problems other Re-Bath customers and people just checking out Re-Bath have reported. Could this be a part of what they are referring to?

Be sure to do your research before hiring any contractor!

Take A Bow? No, Take The Bow Out

Here's one more "live action" shot of how poorly yet another wall was installed.
See how bowed in at the light switch it was?

See how it is not properly adhered to the wall?
Notice the depth difference between the two switches?

Randy from Re-Bath of Ca originally told us he would replace this incorrectly installed wall when he came out on 10-12-07 and inspected the work done. (See our post in this blog from Friday, July 25, 2008)
Not all of them, not two of them (see video of mixer valve wall…), just this one.
But instead he sued us, even after agreeing it was not acceptable workmanship to our faces.

He didn’t even serve us the court summons legally. He just mailed it via regular mail and we received it shortly before the court date. (It should be served via Certified Mail. Or by a party not involved in the action.)
Then, in court and under oath, he originally claimed the Sheriff had served us, but we had already checked with and had verification from the Sheriff department that he never hired the Sheriff department to serve us. Of course he had no proof from the Sheriff, (as we do from our countersuit) to back up that false claim.

Then he claimed his father, Lloyd Summy served us in our front yard. Lloyd Summy was the name on the contractor’s license Randy Summy used, and apparently was the previous Re-Bath franchise owner (if not the actual or co-owner) so he was not qualified to serve us. (See our post in this blog from Thursday, July 31, 2008 )

So which story was the truth Mr. Re-Bath? The correct answer is neither.

Oh yeah, did we mention we never saw, let alone spoke to Lloyd Summy, not for lack of trying. (Actually, yes we did mention that…) And, he was NEVER at or on our property, (at least when we were there, but that is another story) so that would constitute a lie would it not? (In court under oath, is that perjury?)

This shows the level this Re-Bath “owner” was willing to go to instead of just doing the ethical thing he said he would do. (He gave us his “word”.) That would have been to repair the mess his company made.

Is that the kind of service you would want from a contractor? Do your homework, do your own research, before hiring Re-Bath or any contractor.

A Movie and A Picture… A Disaster Double Feature… With a Trailer…

More from the file of what we brought as evidence to the court when we were unjustly sued for not paying due to Re-Bath of Ca not finishing the job.

Here's another live action shot, this time of another improperly attached wall, (like the one where the light switch is located).
Also note, the plumbing was not even anchored to anything inside the wall. When we pulled on the mixer valve, it came out of the escutcheon without turning on.
We don't think it was to code at all... And subsequently our thoughts on that were proven to be true.
And little did we know at the time this was shot, it was already leaking and in the not too distant future our downstairs ceiling would cave from the plumbing leak of this Re-Bath mixer valve installation.

One reason for this unacceptable flexing of the wall is this:

Foam was used to “shore up”, or construct the wall at the area Re-Bath removed the tiles and wall board from to install the shower mixer valve.
Just soft foam! Seems to us like a cheap way to go. We were later told that GreenBoard was the correct material to use.
Would you want this in your bathroom?
They also neglected to properly anchor the pipe in the wall to the framing.

It leaked enough for the water to soak into the wooden floor from the other side (inside) of the wall and rot it:

This is the shower seat Re-Bath "switched" on us described in an earlier post.
We were sold an altogether different looking and much sturdier seat. We complained before the installation of it when we were shown this item. (At the time we were not aware of the switching products/materials tactic that other people have also pointed out in their Re-Bath complaints).
We were told this one is the only one we could get, especially if we wanted our new bathroom done... (Well, not on time, but you probably get the picture (movie?) if you have been following our story). Yeah, like that was the only hang up to getting it finished...

As you can see it is very flimsy, it broke only a short time after we started using it, and no, we are not big/fat people. When it was removed we found out they did not even properly mount it to the studs. Just press in anchors into the old tile. But they had siliconed it to the wall, like that would hold it!?
The reality of why it failed is the product was cheap and poorly designed. Plus it is not what we were sold or charged for! Is this a good representation of Bait & Switch?

We really could have used that safety grab rail they never installed when it let loose too...

Floor Damage Pictures

Here are a couple more shots of the bathroom floor just after they “installed” their wares. The flooring was only a few years old and in fine shape when Re-Bath came to do their work. Here is the other corner they tore up at the base of the shower pan. Not just a cosmetic issue, water getting through did some rotting of the wooden floor below (at both corners).
And before you say, that doesn't look all that bad, remember any damage requires the replacement of the entire floor, including removing the toilet. But the audacity to claim it was this way before the work was done? Before he ever saw it?

Also take a look at the scuffs and damage that they caused elsewhere. The owner who had never been to our home prior to after the attempted installation had been “finished, but with more work needed”, said the floor was already that way and said we were liars for pointing out the damage as being caused by them. Never mind he had no way of knowing what our floor was like before, and that it was not torn and scuffed up, as he saw it, before his workers came to work at our home. Now tell us, who appears to be the liar?

How about this for plumb alignment?
In just the width of the small window the levelness is of by over a full 1/4 inch in the span of about 2 feet.
Now the house already had a window, and it was/is level, so the part that is installed crooked is Re-Bath’s work.
Right side; note the measurement from the center of the grid line to the bottom of the window framing is less than 2 inches:

Acceptable alignment "quality" to you for a nearly $6000.00 investment? Didn’t think so…

But off on just one horizontal plane? It also is not plumb (true flat) on the top plane. Note the triangle is square to the metal window frame. We understand draft for drainage but that is excessive, (although since the window assembly has weep holes was it really even necessary?).
Notice there is still the packing tape on the corner trim pieces so it is still very new/fresh, yet look at the caulking...

A side note, this "window" wall panel detached itself from the wall not long after it was installed and bowed outwardly quite a bit below the window. It was not adhered correctly over the existing tile they attached it to apparently...

Point being Re-Bath did not install their own product in a commonly accepted aesthetically pleasing way, or in a properly functioning way. Why?

And as if this wasn’t enough, it wasn’t even centered (left to right) on the wall/window! But we, the customers, were the ones blamed for this by the Re-Bath franchise owner. We still do not understand that mentality or attitude.

Alignment issues…

Check out this horizontal alignment. We were assured the grid lines molded into the wall panels would line up in corners by the salesman, just like our old tile, but the installers said they couldn't do it and the Re-Bath franchise owner said it was normal for them to not line up and furthermore claimed we agreed to this mis-match. (!?)
Absolutely not true, we did not agree to this bad alignment, and could not have, as we did not speak to him until after there were problems. Why would anyone want a lower quality in aesthetics "upgrade"?

Now for a fair photo comparison, below is what we were shown at the showroom as to what the corner alignment of the horizontal grid lines would look like.
To be clear, the sales literature brought by the salesman before we purchased showed photos of the same quality and clean alignment as we saw in the showroom.
We took these photos at our local Re-Bath showroom after the installation to show what Re-Bath shows the public and how it differed from what they installed and vehemently tried to make us accept:

Note how nice they were able to line those corner grid lines up? Not really indicative of what they installed in our home now is it?

The caulk is not the worst of the problems…

Again, more photos we took and submitted in court, under oath, to defend ourselves from being sued by Re-Bath for not approving of their “workmanship” that they refused to even finish before suing.
Remember their sales pitch, “You don’t pay in full until you are fully satisfied.” Well, the Re-Bath we dealt with apparently only used that as a sales pitch, it's words rang hollow when we asked them to honor that guarantee.

Check out the bow in this wall. Look at the gap behind the light switch. Is this acceptable? In what world? We don't think it was accetable, or even up to code, yet Re-Bath apparently did...

Not only is that bow significant, take note of the amount of recess the light switch is set back in with (the right hand side of the two switches) while the fan switch is flush.

Both a vertical and horizontal bow. We were told how rigid this product was, and that it was 1/4 inch thick. But what they installed was even thinner than the samples (under 1/4 inch thick too) they left. (We can provide photos of the material and samples they left too.)

For a comparison, here is what that wall looked like before we had Re-Bath do this "upgrade".
And also note the absence of the gouge in the door jamb. This photo was shot just before the “work” began.

Caulk debris in the clear silicone... Nice... Just shows the “attention to detail”.

Here are more photos showing the level of "quality" we received from Re-Bath's first attempt to do a shower installation.

This is a baseboard they cut to make the plastic wall panel fit, and the caulking they did...
Notice the nice horizontal chunk they took out of the wood? We did. This is what they considered as "finished". Would anyone reading this honestly consider this good work?

Here is an example of the caulk work they did at the tub/floor line. One of the corners where they hacked the floor up an the shower base was already shown earlier.

Also note that this was taken before we were able (allowed?) to use the shower, so the hair is not ours. Yes, a bit disgusting.

More of the trim, it was like this throughout the entire caulk job.

Here's another nice shot, note the use of silicone caulk that cannot be painted over on the ceiling.

And where they damaged the paint by their "workmanship". More unbelievable caulk work too. Yes, we were expected to pay a premium to Re-Bath for this level of work.

More chips and errant caulk...

Note that we were assured the walls and ceiling would not be damaged by the installation prior to contracting wit Re-Bath by the (unlicensed) salesman. And once it was damaged, we were told it was our responsibilty to fix it at our own expense.
Would you pay nearly $6000.00 for this level of "craftsmanship"? It certainly is not what we were sold...

It is nice to have learned how to post pictures, perfect timing.

Here is some more of the sloppy caulking we were assured was an acceptable standard by Re-Bath of CA. The worst part is it is a silicone based caulk that rendered that door jamb unpaintable even after removing the caulk. Note both colors are pooly done, but wait, why is there white on the jamb in the first place?

Nice gouge, more evidence of the "care" that went into the installation, and yes, were were accused by Randy of claiming they did it "that it was there before". Trust us, they did make the gouge...
Here's another classic shot. They tore up the floor (note the same style of caulking at the base too, about as close to continuity we got) and then Randy claimed it was that way when they got there.

Well, it was that way when he got there, because his crack team did the damage, but this was the first time Randy had been to our home, how on earth could he know? But he argued in court under oath it was that way before the installers started...
Notice that they didn't even install a Re-Bath pan after all the bragging and selling us on how high the Re-Bath quality was? We're not sure if this is Bait & Switch, but the Re-Bath pan we ended up with is not as much of a flexi-flyer as this one was. Who are we kidding, not sure if it was Bait & Switch? Look at the label.

It is truly mind boggling how many complaints there are on the internet regarding Re-Bath.

Even more staggering is how many of those complaints share the same basic complaints of overcharging, rude and abrasive franchise operators, materials installed that don’t match the samples and descriptions of what was sold, the term Bait & Switch is commonly used, lack of response once the first chunk of money was handed over… You see the point.
As well as many complaints of the same handful of people at the corporate office not helping customers who have had these problems.

Our case is interesting in the way the original (not properly licensed) Re-Bath contractor we unfortunately hired has continued to harass us even when we let the blog go dormant. Amazingly he is still threatening us two years and nine months after the job was supposed to have been finished.

We have to ask, what could possibly make this guy so vindictive to his customers (victims?)?. How many others is he doing this to?

We invite everyone who has had a bad Re-Bath experience, especially one with the Re-Bath of Ca located in Signal Hill/Long Beach Ca to comment in our blog. We are very curious to find out if he has chosen us specifically, or if we are just one of many that are being treated this way by him.

In the mean time we found even more complaints so we again are wondering why he has taken this old (we thought it was over and done with) problem to this degree?
After all, he sued us before finishing the job or fulfilling the contract (and lost) but we did not win anything and he kept the payment we made for his unfinished crappy work.
Everyone was a loser, but we lost worse.

We thought it was time to start sharing this irrefutable evidence of the “workmanship” Re-Bath did when they first tried to install our shower. Mind you, these are the exact same photos we showed in court and (deemed in the public domain as such), presented and accepted under oath as proof of the shoddy work done to our home by the Re-Bath franchise Mr. Summy “owns”. Please recall that he sued us (before finishing the job and without benefit of proper contractor licensing) and therefore saw these pictures then. Nothing was said at that time (under oath too) by him that these were not factual representations of the “quality” of work done by his franchise.

Are you following all that? These photos were shot the day following the installation (10-7-07). Please note that the "One Day, Stress Free, No Mess" installation started on 10-5-07 and was never truly finished by Re-Bath of CA. Anyone can do the math and see it was not done in one, let alone two days.

Let’s start with an example of the exquisite alignment skills of the installers. Notice the packing tape still hold this trim piece “straight”? Yes, the caulk is fully dry and that was deemed acceptable by them. Also note the slopped caulk at the top of the window frame. Except for the house's glass and metal frame window, this is 100% Re-Bath work.

How about we show some of their incredible caulk work? Unbelievable as it may seem, this is exactly the work that was done around the window (dried) and they claimed this was fully acceptable caulking. Can you believe it?

We have many more photos as we had to take a lot of them since we were sued by the owner of the Re-Bath because we had the audacity to ask that he make good on his word of finishing this job before paying the balance.

Remember their slogan about the customer doesn't pay until the job is done to their satisfaction. Hmm, just realized they might mean Re-Bath when they say "their". Not the customer. Plausible?

We needed to prove he had not even tried to finish before suing us. We would not have needed to document this had he not caused this situation…

And since we had to eat the cost of printing them for the court, it seems only fair we share them with the rest of the world.

And before you blast us for not just re-doing the crappy caulking, think about this, if you were being charged almost $6000.00 to do this job, wouldn’t you expect a lot better quality?

In fact, there are very many such websites, web pages and blogs dedicated to this one company and its franchises illuminating the problems many many consumers have had with them.

Maybe a full list, a catalog if you, will should be compiled to help protect consumers? Maybe someone will do that.

To the authors of those posts in the provided links: We sincerely hope it is OK that we posted those links in our blog. We will gladly remove them if asked by those who are responsible for originally posting them, but since it is offering protection in providing similar information to potential consumers, we thought it was the right thing to do. How much does that make anyone want to have this company do anything for them?
Is this just another example of those great people skills Mr. (supposed) Manager/Owner of Re-Bath in Long Beach?
No wonder the business name was changed. Oh wait, still doing Re-Bath but also Designer Bath now? What is the problem with that ever so wonderful product "Re-Bath", that another franchise name is warranted?
Call it what you want, but the principle character is still there and this response shows the unethical nature of Re-Bath representatives, as we are convinced who this is from.

And you can see the level of “courtesy” this childish and vindictive individual displays years after we have tried to move on. We are still being taunted and harassed.

No better words than those from the person we are sure is the culprit to illustrate the problems you too will have if you hire the Re-Bath we did, and possibly any other Re-Bath franchise. We can only speak from our experience. But this is too much.

(Funny how the salesman showed pictures of the great work they had done, but would not provide any actual references, now we know why. Stock photos we'll bet. Probably are the same in all the catalogs. No real satisfied customers maybe?)

Don’t you just love the “cry baby” term? This likely from a kid playing "owner" who threw a tantrum and sued us because "his franchise" at "his control" refused to finish the job or honor the contract and failed to be properly licensed? Shameful.

Mildew and Mold. Yep, that’s what we call Re-Bath Quality!

We have both a fan and a window where the Re-Bath installation was done, and we use the approved and recommended by Re-Bath cleaners daily. We live in a non-humid area, and it is pretty much summer at this posting time of this.
Too bad we have a terrible mildew problem now in our Re-Bath Shower. We point this out after another pain in the backside cleaning of the fungus.

We were told we would never have to worry about mold and mildew in our Re-Bath shower, but we now know firsthand about the level of “integrity” and “honesty” of Re-Bath sales people and franchise operators.

We were told that the adhesive and caulking had compounds (fungicides) in them to eliminate the possibility of mold and mildew. We wonder why it began grow so soon after the installation? Actually we know why, cheap materials poorly installed by people who mislead us when they told us about what we were being sold…

Another word of warning to all potential Re-Bath (or whatever new franchise name your local post Re-Bath "scammer" is using) customers. You would be well advised to not trust them. If you have a mildew or mold problem now and want them to relieve you of that problem, they probably won’t be able to do it. Don’t believe their B.S. promises, do some homework. The system they sold us does not work in our home and they will not honor their “guarantee”. The only possible guarantee is that you too will likely be dissatisfied.

Back to scrubbing… Maybe we will start posting photos to show the crappy work and subsequent reality of one of the worst mistakes we ever made, contracting with our local Re-Bath.

New Company Name, Same Bad Ethics. Beware of Designer Bath

Looks like Re-Bath in Signal Hill is now going by the name of “Designer Bath” now.
Same dishonest people hawking the same low quality over-priced products. And you can bet the service is just as bad, after all, if Re-Bath was so great, why change the name? And just look at who the owner is, Randy Summy. The same person who ripped off many in Southern California as Re-Bath based in Signal Hill/Long Beach.

Don’t automatically buy into the “Service Magic Seal of Approval” either. Even if it were a reputable service (it very well may be…), the owner of Designer Bath in Signal Hill has shown himself to us to be a dishonest and very vindictive person. That is what you must concern yourself with, his track record and deceitful business history. Check out the history, it speaks louder than us.

If you have a problem, and speak up, you can very much expect to be harassed by him for a very long time as we are being.

Also please note that earlier in this blog (9-8-2008) it was addressed that the same Re-Bath franchise used to go by a different name before adopting the Re-Bath name, and it had a history of consumer complaints with the BBB when we researched Randy and Lloyd Summy of Long Beach.
Don't take our word, look it up. This doesn't replace you looking it up, but it will provide some insight.

This jerk who either is, or is pretending to be, Lloyd Summy that is posting comments to this blog is proving to be quite an entertaining yet obviously unstable, pathological liar, or worse, true psycho stalker type in our opinion.
He is apparently back to sending repeated comments under the name "Anonymous" after using "his name" of Lloyd Summy.

Why would the "father" of the cheating manager of a poorly run Re-Bath franchise expend so much effort to hound a past Ripped-Off customer? Are we the only ones being harrased by this guy?
It is beyond us.
Is it part of the Re-Bath "How to screw the customer handbook"? Assuming there is one, but the amount of the same stories on the web is enlightening...

Plus, we never dealt or even so much as spoke with this "Lloyd Summy". We did have to contend with his dishonest (possibly mentally or emotionally challenged) son Randy, and that was distasteful enough to say the least. Like walking through a turd farm and not being able to scrape the poop off later. (Seems like we missed a piece now...)

Interestingly, we had a sense of mental instablity with this guy when we first had the "pleasure" of meeting him.

Someone claiming to be the daddy (Lloyd Summey) of the little weasel manager of the Long Beach Re-Bath, Randy Summey, is contacting us claiming he is a “board certified behavioral analyst”.

Unfortunately the idiot can’t even spell his made up profession correctly.
Whether it truly is who he claims he is doubtful since the message is full of the same babbling tripe as several earlier efforts they made. It’s probably the little weasel himself. Wonder if daddy knows his brat is dragging his name though the mud? From what we learned, the nut falls not far from the tree so it’s a moot point.

What a bunch of childish vindictive thieves. Not satisfied with ripping off customers, they take their cheating to a personal level of harassment.

Are these the kinds of people you would want to do any kind of business with?

1st she said that Mark spent 30 minutes discussing the position of the door, that is a HUGE LIE, he showed me by holding it up in the middle and said” this is where it will go” Nothing more!! I agreed to it. Then he put it in a different spot!

2nd Jennifer said I said ok to the spot because of the door frame…it costs $1.12 let’s be serious, all I wanted was the shower to be done correctly.

3rd Jennifer stated that I signed off, yes I did only after complaining about the door position to mark! It was 11pm and he said nothing could be done!

4th she said I called back 2 weeks later it was only 7 days and we buried my Dad in the middle of it.

5th she said I told someone I was delighted, I have never used that word to describe this mess. I said it was fine and wrote an email because Matt pushed for it to end the photo op!

6th she said I wanted it moved because I wanted to gain a half inch, what I said is it looks wrong and is the exact opposite of what we had and hated!

7th she said she met with the installers and managers to discuss this; she was on the phone with me the whole time in one call. She talked to only me.

8th she said I was given an opportunity to have doors installed this way when the job was originally done, and that I opted to follow our standard procedure of leaving the entry door frame intact and moving the door 1/2" on threshold That was never said to me never offered to me and I told them the moment I saw it off centered. It was 1/8 of an inch from the inside of the shower….see photos.

9th She said she explained that Re-Bath would move the door, against their better judgment, but that she would have to pay for that service and understand the charges would be needed to cover the added labor and the risks that would ensue. She said I agreed to a $175.00 fee for this service. This is not what was said to me by any stretch, she complained that the door might break and that was her only concern. She asked for the money and I explained it was not my fault that it was installed correctly. I talked while she yelled and finally she agreed to do it right!

10th Jennifer wrote When the installer arrived, Ms. Tuccelli stated she understood she would be charged, allowed him to perform the work, but then refused to pay when it was completed I was told it would be $175 at the start yes, but I did not say a word I walked away and let him fix it. I had not agreed to pay anything and had no intention to pay more to have it done right.

11th Jennifer said, Two weeks later the doors did in fact begin to leak, which was my exact concern from the start. It was 7 days again, and it was not her concern she was afraid of it breaking.

I am blown away at the lies this woman tells and how she is trying to make it look like it was something we did wrong and not her.

October 24th 8:40am Kevin arrived, he was polite and nice to deal with, I showed him the leak and he and I poured water on the suspected spot where it was leaking into and out of, and the water came thru.
A small one inch strip that leaked.
So he is now putting the silicone on the spot.

At 9:02am Kevin finished, he said not to shower in there for three hours to let it dry. He said there should not be any problems now, and if there is to just give them a call. (Yeah, we've heard that before!-Hal)

I said thanks and joked that the one inch hole cost me $175.00 he said yeah I know sorry.
He said that should be the last of it. I thanked him and he left.

October 28th 2009, at 11:35am, I opened my email and I received an email from Jennifer.
It is dated Monday at 3:29pm I am disappointed at the response. I saved it.
I sent a reply at 12:04pm with the shining examples of her honest business.

October 28th at 2:21pm, I received a call from Re-Bath headquarters from Amy.
She told me she received my email and was very sorry, she told me she would “feel the EXACT SAME WAY AS I DO”.

She said they are taking actions. (Yeah, but for or against the customer?-Hal)

I explained I felt the $175.00 that I was strong armed into paying was not right and she agreed. We talked about it and she said to call her if I needed to for anything and that she would handle this. She gave me her phone number 480-844-2596.

I told her I reported this to the BBB and she said she understood how I felt and agreed that I should NOT have paid more to have it corrected.

She gave me the address of customerservice@rebath.com to send the replies from Jennifer, I sent them all.

And We Are Back To The “Simple” Re-Bath Lies… And Avoidance

October 22nd Thursday. We have not heard from Re-Bath, so George called at 9:11am and Jennifer was not in yet, the person told him that they only received the check yesterday (Wednesday), when he inquired, and would have Jennifer call him back.

There is no way a piece of mail coming out of Marlboro (the main post) took 6 days to arrive, it was there on Monday. Marlboro has direct mail it doesn’t go out to another site to be shipped, it ships from there. So again we wait for Jennifer to call us back. (Standard Operatimg Procedure For Re-Bath.-Hal)

At 11:50am George called Re-Bath again to see if Jennifer was in, he was told she was still not in.

At 1:00pm George called Re-Bath again and was told Jennifer was not in.

At 2:00pm George called Re-Bath again and he spoke to Ginny or Ginnine. He was told Jennifer was not in again, he asked if she was expected in?
She said she just stepped out.
George asked is she the owner?
Ginny said yes, he asked if she has a cell number to call, she said she would call and have Jennifer call him.

At 2:30pm Someone from Re-Bath named Dianne called George and told him that on Saturday (not Thursday or Friday like he was promised by Jennifer) Kevin would be coming to our house between 7 and 8am, George said how about 8-9am? (It would seem to be a miracle if this guy comes on time by their track record…- Hal)
She said ok between 8 and 9am to fix the leak.
He said ok.

Again not for nothing but once again Jennifer did promise George that if she got the check by Wednesday, and according to them they did, that she would have someone here on Thursday or Friday… Re-Bath strikes again changing things around, saying one thing and doing another!

Yeah, ONE-DAY, STRESS FREE, My Behind!

On October 18th George was on line looking up info on Re-Bath he laughed when he saw the “one day Stress free” line on their site.
He also found a place to register our warrantee card so he filled it out today.

Can you imagine this has been 4 months since we started with re-Bath! (Sadly we don’t have to imagine, it was much longer in our case. It appears to be the norm for this company of lying cheats.-Hal)

To date I have spent a total of 36 days on the phone with Re-Bath, or having work done here by Re-Bath, or photos taken here by Re-Bath or waiting for Re-Bath to never show up here to take photos in a total of a 4 month time span… Just sickening!
(Not 2 days and not stress free by any stretch of the imagination) It cost us a total of $8,033.00

Back To That Pesky Problem of Re-Bath “Honoring” Their Own Warranty…

George called back, She said when I get the check we will come out.
He said if you have it by Tuesday or Wednesday, when will we see you?
She said by Thursday or Friday the 22nd or 23rd of October. He said fine we will send the check today.

She asked why we didn’t just move it or have it moved? (As if we don't know the answer...-Hal)
He said because we were told by your sales men Chris that if we touch anything on our own we void our warrantee, she said oh that would not have applied. (I think a lot of what our salesman told us was BS!)

(We think a lot of what Re-Bath told us was a bunch of BS too! And you can bet if you do touch anything, Re-Bath will play that voided warranty card, as if they would actually cover any of their own supposed warranty anyway.-Hal)

George said she yelled a lot and was a total Bitch to deal with but when he agreed to pay her she calmed down and talked about doing it.
So I just wrote check number 2912 to Re-bath for $175.00 and in the note area wrote paid under duress and I stuck a sticky note on it saying Promised Thursday or Friday October 22 or 23. I am so sick and tired of this freaking bathroom!!!!!!!and Re-Bath!!!!!!!!!
It has been two years since we started this bathroom remodel and we are in the same spot that we started in it does look nicer but is functioning the same, I want to move just to get away from the shower! I REALLY HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO!

Uh-Oh, This Is Not Good!

October 13th 9pm, my husband George just showed me the leak in the shower, it is dripping slowly onto the floor in the exact spot as the one we replaced, the same place that ruined the floor we put down that was replaced by Re-bath.

This is NOT good!

I told George I am done dealing with them and told him to call and handle it from here. I don’t ever want to have to deal with such unprofessional people again.
October 14th. George called Re-bath and spoke to a girl who had Dan, who was our plumber, call him back. Dan said he would call and set up a time with me that day. Dan never called.

October 16th Jennifer called and left a message at 1:47pm. Saying “I hear you’re having trouble with the door since we moved it, I want to talk to you about it, call me back.” George called back at 2pm.
He said to me after his call wow what a Bitch she is.
She insisted that she will not fix anything wrong with the shower till we pay the $175. From the shower door move. She said you can take us to court if you want. (Typical Re-Bath attitude, same as what we were met with.-Hal)
George said I have never heard that from a business before. He said she was stubborn and rude. (Again, so much just like our experiences with Re-Bath agents.-Hal)

He said to Jennifer let me ask you something, if you had a new roof put on your house and the gutters weren’t straight would you have them moved? She said “not if they told me not to.” George said so you would just live with it? She said yes. (We’re not buying it! What Ever Happened To The ONE DAY-NO STRESS-NO MESS Guarantee?

Ok Kevin is done it is 11:52am he asked me to pay and I asked him to sit down and talk to me about this. I asked him if he felt it was done right the first time.
He said “ well…. yes it was but he should have told you before changing the plan, or explained why first.”
I explained the situation to him about how I didn’t feel like I should pay more to have this done and he understood and felt perhaps Mark should have asked first but he said he didn’t want to get involved.
He said he understood and said he would just tell them I declined payment. He was understanding and I told him I was sick to my stomach and shaking and showed him my hands. He told me to relax that it will work out in the end one way or another. He said someone from Re-bath will probably call me. He was understanding and I really feel bad. However I feel like this is how it should have been done the first time.
I wrote declined payment on the line where I was supposed to sign and dated it.
Under it I wrote this is how it should have looked the first time.

Kevin left and I am still upset. The shower looks right now, It would be perfect if it was in the exact center but it improved the whole room as far as I am concerned, there is no big shelf on the outside of the shower and it is more centered and looks right, it no longer looks cheap or like it was not done by a professional. By moving the door it also made the shower head more centered too. I am happy, FINALLY!

(No one should have to endure that kind of stress over an “easy” home repair. Remember the “NO STRESS” guarantee? Or the one that said they won’t charge until it is done right? Let alone the ONE DAY installation. Obviously Re-Bath doesn’t…-Hal)

Unbelievable! Late Again, And Still Charging For Their Mistakes

It is October 6th It is 8:55am and Kevin just arrived out front.
(Almost one full hour late, and this from a guy who “likes to show up early”. Give me a break!-Hal)
He is polite and introduced himself. I showed him the door and he said that usually they bring them out as far as possible. I explained how it looks really bad from the inside.
He said I see why he did it this way, I said me too but it is not where it belongs and not where he showed me it was going to go and not where the ones in the show room are. He said we can fit that. He said you realize that some screws will show.

I said not really, I measured them all and he checked what I was saying and saw I was right no holes will show. He is now prepping the area.
My Mother just asked Kevin to also check the seat that seems loose he said he would.

Kevin just let me know that the bill for today is $175. I can’t believe they want me to pay to make this right, after all that BS on the phone!! EVERYONE says it is wrong my friends, a carpenter and their show room person even said it!
AND I AM SUPPOSED TO PAY???? This is so wrong.

9:56am I am listening to Kevin on his cell phone explaining how he is moving over a (my) shower door, he said I have it all cleaned and out I am just getting ready to move it now. He acknowledged what a person on the phone said and then he said, well I guess we learned from this that when we change from the original plan we need to let the customer know first. He listened more, then he stared to discuss something about signs being needed today in Avon.
I think he even feels this was wrong, why would he say that about letting the customer know first? Because he knows what I was told and what I ended up with were two different things!
(Sadly, even if the installer seems to side with or have sympathy for the customer, in the end we found out it is only one of two things. The installer is lying, or he will be forced by Re-Bath to what is best for Re-Bath, regardless of the contract or agreement.-Hal)

I am sick to my stomach thinking about how he wants money at the end of this and that I can’t in good conscious pay. I can’t pay for something that was not done right the first time, when I already paid $8,000.00. I cannot justify paying $175.00 more to fix what they did wrong or what at minimum a customer (me) is not happy with. I am sick trying to work out in my head what I am going to say to Kevin. He is a really nice man who is doing a great job…I am SICK! I should not be put into this situation.

So Easy A Caveman Could Have Done It?

On September 7th I called a couple of carpenters to look at what I wanted done in the bathroom, only one called back. The guy named John is coming on Wednesday. I want to be sure about the wood. I don’t feel it is a big deal to do but I need a professional opinion. I also took photos of the door position.

On Wednesday September 9th A carpenter named John McLaughlin from Waltham, MA came here to look at the wood and the shower. He said “this is so simple to do, all they had to do is scribe it out” I asked how much would he charge, he said “if I lived nearby I would do it for free, it would take but a few minutes, but since I have to come from Waltham it would be $25.00” He said “I don’t understand why they didn’t do it like that?”
(Ummm, because Re-Bath is in the scam business, not a true skilled trade business? –Hal)

On Thursday September 10th I phoned Re-Bath explaining I could not be available on Monday the 14th and asked Anna if she could reschedule. She was polite and said no problem and made the appointment for Tuesday October 6th 8 am with Kevin. I thanked her. She said no problem, but so you know he likes to arrive really early.

I said that’s fine. She was nice and polite.

Monday Oct 5th I got a call from Anna confirming that tomorrow Kevin was coming out to move the door on my shower. I said yes perfect. She said he will be here at 8am but he likes to show up early. I said ok!

The Curse Is Not The Tub, It’s The People Who Sold It

On Tuesday September 1st I got my warrantee card back in the mail. It said return to sender on it by the post office.
I called Re-Bath and told them and they said oh just send it to our Pembroke office and we will send it in for you.
(Do you really think it ever got sent by these clowns? Perfect excuse, "we never got it".-Hal)
I asked if the company moved from the address and she said yeah a while ago just send it to us. I had sent it to the self addressed typed out form address of 1055 South Country Club Drive in Mesa AZ 85210-4613 but she gave me the Pembroke office of 55 B Corp. Park Drive in Pembroke Mass 02359.
I laughed when I looked at the form I had filled out a month before, it asked why I got the shower, and I had hand written in for more room.
I readdressed it and sent it out today. To date I have spent a total of 26 days (not 2) on the phone with or having work done here, or photos taken here or waiting for Re-Bath to never show up here in a total of 2 months time span. I feel like this tub area is cursed!

All She Wanted Was For Them To Properly Finish One Part Of The Job They Were Paid To Do

So I said to Jennifer, the shower is too small, and this door being where it is makes it even smaller. The shower is only 31 inches not 32 like I asked for. My wall was gouged by your men. The shower head is not centered like I specifically requested. The wall surround was supposed to come out to the hinge like I asked for and doesn’t and it took a week not two days like promised.
(That is five items just listed above Re-Bath did incorrectly if anyone wants a quick count.-Hal)
I am not complaining about any of that, just the door position!

She continued on and on about how it is only an inch!

I continued to say to her in a low voice trying to keep her yelling down still, there was no reason to be upset and no reason to yell, we are your customers and we are not happy.

She changed her attitude and calmed down a bit and stopped arguing AT me, not with me but at me. Jennifer said ok then Tuesday Sept 8th at 8:00 am.

I said fine that is great.
She then changed her mind and said how about September 14th at 8:00am? (Geez, what about accomodating a customer?!-Hal)

I said fine.

Jennifer said she is sending Kevin who is very detailed oriented and will do a great job.

I said fine, The 14th 8:00am is perfect.

She apologized.

I said no problem, I just want this right.

She said you are opening a can of worms with this, I just want you to know that something could break! (Wow, what confidence in your product and installers!-Hal)

I said as long as it looks right and functions properly when it is done then ok!

I was happy that I never raised my voice to her, even when she was yelling and acting very rude to me, I did not lower myself to her level. I was really upset when I hung up, I was glad I hung in there to insist on it being done right. Up until now I had nothing but good things to say about Re-bath and I would have recommended them to anyone, but after that call I am not sure….I doubt it.

My friends in Reading want me to say yes or no about them, he needs 2 whole tubs, if she fixes it right then I guess I will tell them the story and let them decide. She was so unprofessional and rude to me that I can’t believe they are in business, when I was handing over money they were so nice and polite, now that I have a problem they treat me like I have leprosy. I am shocked at how rude she was, I have never been spoken to like that by anyone that I have done business with….EVER!

She said yes because this is silly.

I asked her to stop yelling yet again and told her I could hear her just fine, I explained that it was 11pm when Mark finished, we were tired and I did ask why it was where it was. Mark explained it to us but we didn’t like it.
I said ok Jennifer, tell me what if I had insisted then and there at 11 pm that it had to be moved? He still would have had to take it off right? So what is the problem in doing it now?

She had no response. (Finally a logical response… Yes, more sarcasm. But really, what could she say?-Hal)

I said that the wall opposite the shower had a huge ding in it from Dan and I am not complaining about that either. I hated to say that the guy felt bad about it and I didn’t want to get him into trouble, but man, this woman is really yelling and trying to make me change my mind about something I don’t like after spending $8,000.00.
(We still are in disbelief at the amount of gall these Re-Bath agents show when they are caught doing the wrong thing, and how it always seems to be pointed out to the customer that it will cost them (Re-Bath )so much to fix, (i.e. do the right thing), when in reality all the customer is asking is to get what they were promised, sold and paid exorbitantly for.-Hal)

And Why Is It OK For The Customer To Have To Live With The Mistakes Re-Bath Makes?

I explained that the shower isn’t even 32 inches like I ordered and that it did not come out to the hinge like I requested and that I am not complaining about anything other than the door position.
Jennifer snapped and yelled it is 32 inches the rest is behind the wall. I said the shower measures 30 and 3/8 inches showing are you saying that more than 1 and a half inches is in the wall? The surround that you put up is only ¼ of an inch thick, how can that be?
She said this is all over the shower door being half an inch over? I can’t believe it!! Something could break…. The door could break by moving it.

I said it isn’t right. (Remember this folks, now that Re-Bath has the money, they consider the job done and WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY! -Hal)

She argued that it is right and as far as she is concerned it is custom made and done right. (If it is custom made, why does it not fit? Just asking...-Hal)
I said Don’t you care that I spent 8 thousand dollars and we are not happy with the result?
She said it is right.
I said It does not look good.
She said well it is right I promise you that! (Again, we wonder if this woman has even seen what she is so vehemently arguing about, in our case almost the same thing happened. A person who had not seen the shower argued that we didn’t know what it should look like, not that she ever saw it...-Hal)

I asked if she is just blowing me off, and just didn’t want to deal with me because she sounded really upset.?
She said no, but this is silly.
I said not to us, it doesn’t look right. I said it might be ok as far as doors go, it functions, but aesthetically it looks bad.
She again said loudly this will cost her money to move it and how it could break the doors.
I said I didn’t feel like I should have to pay since it is not where the ones in the showroom are positioned and they look good and give you more room inside the shower and no shelf on the outside, just like we wanted ours to look and expected it to look. I explained we wanted what was shown to us in the show room.
She said there is no way to do it unless I pay $175.00.
I said that is not right and I asked her to lower her voice again.

I said I have told you that everything looks perfect, this is the only one problem we are complaining about and you don’t want to help me?
She said loudly well you said that it was great you wrote it in your email.
I said yes it is true it looks great and it really does, we love it, but we didn’t replace our old one on looks, it was for space. I only have one problem and that is the door position, Can’t you at least move it for us?
(Again we were surprised at how hard Re-Bath fought to tell us our crappy installation was the way it should be, even though what we saw and photographed in the showroom was much different, better. The moral here is don’t believe for a minute that they (Re-Bath) will make your installation look as nice as what they show you in the sales book or showroom.-Hal)

3 more days later on Aug 31st Jennifer finally called me back 27 days after my first call. She apologized for not getting back to me sooner. I said no problem. She asked me what exactly I wanted to have done. I told her as best I could explain over the phone what we wanted.
She was really upset and raised her voice yelling about the idea of moving it.
(She was upset? Why? Seems to us the upset one should be the customer that was not getting what was sold. -Hal)

I had the phone on speaker phone and my Mother stopped to look at me and mouthed who is yelling at you? I just nodded and tried to calm down Jennifer saying I don’t see why it is a problem.
I said Jennifer this is not done right, which she cut me off to insist it is right. I said look it doesn’t look right, I had others look at it and they felt the same. She got louder and said Oh Boy. Are you kidding me you want this moved a half an inch? I said no …one inch really, she kind of lost it and went on and on about how stupid this is and it is only one inch and something could break and how she doesn’t want to be responsible for it.
I tried to get her to quiet down by talking lower, but she kept talking loudly about how this would cost her around $900.00 to fix, and she can only do it if I split it with her. She kept saying I can’t believe this, for one inch!
I said look I spent $8,000.00 and I am not happy with it. My husband feels the same; we spent a lot of money, and would like it right. She snapped it is right!

She said why didn’t you call right away? I said I told Mark right away and then I explained about my Dad [Passing away] and said I did call only 5 days after you guys finished here. I was a little busy with my Dad’s [Burial] plans to call you right away, and I have been calling each and every week for one month trying to get you to call me back.

Not So Amazing How Long It Takes To Get A Hold Of Someone At Re-Bath Once They Have Your Money

On Thursday August 6th I called Re-Bath to ask about having the door moved to where we all believe it should go. I was told Jennifer would call me back. (We got a lot of lip service like that too, but very little actual returned calls.-Hal)

A week later on August 13th I called Re-Bath again saying I had not heard from anyone yet, and was told by Anna that Mark would call me. I phoned Mark directly and he told me he would call me soon.

A week later On August 20th I called Re-Bath again and Anna said she spoke to Mark and he would call me. So I called Mark’s number from his business card. I left a message on his phone.

Mark called me back and told me he was taking time off because he was having some problems with his daughter and that he told Anna and that she or Jennifer should call me. (Always with the dramatic excuses…-Hal)

A week later on August 27 I called Re-Bath yet again and spoke to Anna she apologized and said she would take care of it. (That's three weeks...-Hal)

I then emailed Matt and Melissa and asked them for help. He emailed back saying sorry and that he would get Anna to take care of it for me and said sorry.
(If you weren’t counting that was pretty much the month of August she spent waiting to speak to someone at Re-Bath. ANd why couldn't Anna helt when first contacted? Makes you wonder about the reality and real value of that “Lifetime Warranty” doesn’t it?-Hal)

After All That, It Still Wasn’t Right…

On Thursday July 30th we talked about how late they stayed finishing up each time they were here and how it took 7 days and a lot of time dealing with the photo girl, and a ton of phone calls from Re-Bath and not two days like we were told it would take to do the job and how late they were each time they arrived.
I felt bad and didn’t want to get them into trouble since they were such nice guys and did such a nice job, but then we talked about how we had spent nearly eight thousand dollars and did not like how it looked we talked some more about what to do. (You are way too nice!-Hal)
A couple of friends of ours saw it and said you should just ask them to move it, it didn’t look right to them either. So we decided to call.

On Wednesday August 5th I went to the Re-Bath’s show room in Framingham, to see what their Shower doors looked like. To see if we were maybe complaining about it and it was really right. They were all placed in the middle where we felt ours should go. I spoke to a man I think Paul maybe Peter, and he said “no problem just call the number you have on the business card and they will take care of it.” He agreed with me that it belonged in the center too. (Let’s see how this actually works once someone responsible for the work is brought in shall we?-Hal)

Punctuality is not a Re-Bath trait…

On Tuesday July 28th Melissa arrived at 11:30 am.
Not for nothing… but I have been rescheduling my work for these people for 15 days now and it is starting to get really frustrating that no one from Re-Bath owns a friggen watch! (And what about that 1 day, 2 day no stress installation...?-Hal)
I had to work around their schedules, cancel appointments and dates and I am not happy that they are always late. …ok, this will be the last of it forever!
She took the photos, I held the stupid sign and smiled for them. And she was gone in about 45 minutes.
I am so glad it is over… FINALLY!
Later I mailed in my warrantee card for my shower, that I got from the one of the workers or Chris, I don’t remember which one.

The next day Wednesday July 29th my husband and I talked about the door on the shower and how it looks. We are very happy with the looks of the whole bathroom with the exception of the shower door. We decided we can live with the shower being 31 inches not 32 but we really don’t like the door where it is. It gives no room inside of the shower only a little less than 1/8th inch, and a ledge of 2 plus inches on the outside to gather dust. The overall measurements were 4 inches. The door itself took up almost 2 inches. So it really needed to go back one inch from the inside of the shower to look right and give us the room we wanted in the first place.

We also noticed after showering that the shower head is not centered as requested. George took off the shower faucet dial and turned it to the bottom so now when we shower, we won’t change the heat, it took George 5 minutes to do what Dan said can’t be done! (So many common elements in how Re-Bath refuses to do what the customers order and are originally sold are in this story too. Not by coincidence, but by the very nature of how Re-Bath agents are taught to behave.-Hal)

Two days turns into a week...

On Monday July 27th. It was a really long week with no bathroom.

Where the hell is Dan?
Dan arrives and it is 11:47 am to finish putting in my bathroom fixtures before noon, YEAH RIGHT!
He was polite and cleaned up after he was done. (Nice compromise?-Hal)

However I had to cancel my cat’s vet appointment, and the registry will now have to wait till tomorrow, which caused me to make my date to meet my friend Rose to be pushed off till next week too since I am not going to the registry now and tomorrow.

(These Re-Bath people are either ignorant of the problems they cause by their repeated tardiness, or worse. They seem to not care of the repercussions their failed actions have on those who are paying a premium for services not rendered.-Hal)

I have other plans and work, all because I was nice to him and he was late in return.
No good deed goes unpunished!
(Yes, exactly. Try to be nice and accommodating, what do you get from these people? Disrespected and inconvenienced.-Hal)

Just as Dan was putting in the sink he hit the wall opposite the shower and put a huge ding in it. (We had the same problems with our inept installers, all they want is to get out and collect the cash, repairing damage they caused was not something they felt obligated to do, no matter what they say about fixing it.-Hal)

He apologized and I said I would take care of it; I just wanted him out at this point! I was really bummed because they are or were all new walls, God I want this over! (We know that feeling…-Hal)

I asked Dan to move the shower dial too, I explained that we hit it and it changes the temperature while we shower, the dial is facing up and while showering a few times my husband turned the water full hot and it was kind of scary.
Dan said it can’t be done. (We thought Re-Bath were pros, real professionals... What about the part that the customer is right?-Hal)
I said you can’t just turn the handle to face down?
He said no you can’t, it only fits one way. He finished at 1:55pm. (Wow, only two hours late. That sarcasm font would be good here too.-Hal)

7 days total not 2 like promised and I could have worked this morning too.
I paid in full the remainder of the $7,858.00 which was $2,000.00 and was glad it was over! (But it’s never really over is it?-Hal)

In the afternoon I got a call from Re-Bath asking to come back to take the photos of the after, Matt asked me to smile big and hold a Re-Bath sign. (Wonder if they'll include a shot of ding they put in the wall?-Hal)
I said fine.
He said Melissa could be here on Wednesday or Thursday.

And I lied because I really wanted this over with, I was tired of hearing from Re-Bath and tired of a week of men working in my home, when I was told two days,
I was tired of no toilet and sink…so I lied and said I was going away on Tuesday night and wouldn’t be back for two weeks. If he wanted the photo he would have to come the next day. (Good for you!-Hal)

He hung up made a few calls I guess, and called me back saying Tuesday morning between 8am and 9am Melissa would be here. I said ok between 8 and 9am right? He said yes. What a headache! (Yep, Re-Bath is the headache that keeps on aching...-Hal)

Mark continued to install the shower alone. Mark was very nice and answered any questions I had. He was really polite and great to deal with.
At the time when Mark was hanging the shower door he called me in to show me where it would go, I said great. He stood it up in the center of the shower ledge area. I agreed it was perfect.

But when he was done later however, it was not where he said it would be,
(We had the exact same thing happen. Seems to be the way they work.-Hal),
it was less than a 1/8th of an inch from the inside of the shower, he explained that was because the door frame was in the way. (The door frame that was not supposed to be there according to what Chris said, I asked for and, he and Dan had all said ok to.)

I was not happy.

It was the reason I replaced the old tub, just this problem is now on the other side. I said Oh but I don’t like that, it looks off it looks wrong.
He said there was nothing he could do the door frame was in the way. I said well it wasn’t supposed to be there anyway remember?
He said there was nothing he could do. I told him I didn’t like the way it looked. He apologized and again said there is nothing that can be done.
Mark had finished up at 11:05 pm. The tub was in and I was tired. On his way out Mark said he would be back on Friday the 24th around 8am to put in the floor.
Later in bed my husband and I talked and I said everything else is really looking good so far, but the shower door looks wrong.
We both were disappointed.

On Wednesday July 22nd George and I talked about the shower size, it seems to be too small, not just the door but the shower at the bottom area, we measured it and it is only 30 3/8th inches wide not 32 like ordered.
We were both bummed! (Can you say Bait & Switch?-Hal)

On Friday July 24th Mark arrived at 12:45pm and explained that he had to finish up another job. (Always an exscuse, never a resolution. Was he late to the ealier job? Our bet is it was just another excuse based on our experience.-Hal)
He went right to work he was very polite and covered all of my rugs. It again was a pleasure even though he was late and I could have worked this morning.

I asked again about the shower door, he said he wasn’t able to put it where it should go but that it was good there where it was. I said is this a 32 inch shower? He said yes it is. He put down the floor and finished at 11:10pm. He said he would be back at 9am the next day to grout. He was really friendly very polite and did a really good job and I have no complaints about Re-Bath or their workers, (We’re gonna interject a big NOT AT THIS TIME comment here…-Hal), other than the shower door not being in the center where it belongs and because the shower is too small the door placement makes it even smaller.
It looks fudged. (Um,'cause it is...?-Hal)

Matt from Re-Bath called that afternoon to see if he could send Melissa to take the after photo that night, I explained that they were not done and won’t finish till Monday. He said ok he would call back.
He wasn’t surprised that it was taking so long and I wondered why. (Yeah, not a surprise to the Re-Bath folks who know about the scam…-Hal)

On Saturday July 25th Mark arrived a 1:09pm he told us his bank account had been broken into somehow and that he spent the morning with the bank.
(Always some excuse laced with drama, something to make the customer feel sorry for them, it too is part of the SOP for them, and they tried to play it on us too. Shameful.-Hal)
Mark grouted and finished up at 7pm. The floor looked great. No toilet or sink till Monday but it looks great. Mark gave me a receipt and asked for the balance, I gave Mark a check for $3238.oo Leaving a balance of $2000.00 since Dan was not coming back till Monday to finish and I wouldn’t pay it off till it was done. He said ok he understood.
I stressed to him to tell Dan how important it was for him to be done here before 12:00 noon since I had plans for Monday at noon.
He said he would tell him and said that Dan really appreciated me letting him wait till Monday. I hate that they start so late, and work so late; I could have worked all week in the mornings. (Well, to them it’s all about them, not what they claim in the ads or sales pitches.-Hal)

Timeliness is a virtue. Re-Bath apparently has no virtue.

On Monday July 20th They called me in the morning around 11:15 am and asked if they could take the photos in the morning of the 21st? I was kind of annoyed but said fine again. I just wanted a new shower. I could have worked today too! (More careless attitude regarding the customer…-Hal)

On Tuesday July 21st , My family all got up early to shower, since we can’t shower for 24 hour after the install. We all finished by 7 am since that was the agreed upon time to start. The photo girl showed up at 11:35am, That really irked me, we all could have taken our time this morning!

(This comes as no surprise to Hal on the late issue and the effects of inconvenience directly caused by Re-Bath agents.-Hal)

The workers Mark and Dan arrived later while she was taking photos about 11:45am. She took her photos and was gone by 11:50am. She was nice and polite, (just not punctual?-Hal).

The workers talked in the driveway till 12:30pm,
(We had the same problem, wasting time to the detriment of the customer and the quality as well as timelyness of the job.-Hal)
I assume they are on lunch break, they haven’t even started yet. At 12:38pm the workers covered my carpets, to begin work, they were very polite and it was a total pleasure having them work in my home.

Dan the plumber started the job. He went over everything he would do and explained it all to me first. He said there was no problem asking questions and to feel free. It was all very nice. Then he said that he was told to finish my job on Saturday or be fired. (Yeah, right.-Hal) He was upset, and he asked me and he said he would appreciate it if he could instead of coming back on Saturday to put back all of my fixtures, could he come back on Monday the 27th first thing in the morning? He said he wanted to spend some time with his kids.
(Yep, guilt the customer into allowing the agents to get away with not following the agreed upon timetable…Classic Re-Bath…-Hal)
I wasn’t happy about losing a whole entire week to this job that was supposed to take only two days …but I agreed because I felt bad that the guy was told do it or be fired, and he wanted to see his kids. I couldn’t say no. He was a decent guy who I felt deserved a break. I checked my appointment book with him and said ok but you have to be done here by noon on Monday, I have plans. He said ok no problem and thanked me very, very much.
(Our guest is too nice. We used to be nice too, but after being burned by the Re-Bath lies, we felt used. - Hal)

I explained to both men what we hated about the old shower, which included the shower head not being centered, the side of the tub that was not centered and thus not giving enough room. The wall that looked like it was moldy. The leak to the floor, which ruined the floor and wall. I explained that the whole bathroom was new and the only two problems were the floor and shower. I explained how we wanted the shower wall to come out to the hinge and how the more room in the shower the better for us. Everyone agreed the men said that this was easy to do. I am very happy with the men they listened and seemed get exactly what we need.

The two men tore out all the fixtures in the bathroom, they ripped out the old tub and the floor. Dan said to me that he was surprised that we didn’t keep our old faucets since they are brand new and nicer than the ones we are replacing them with and match they our bathroom sink and towel racks, I explained that Chris told us we had to have the whole shower and faucets from Re-Bath or it voids the warrantee, he said that’s not true these are Delta too.
(Wow, what are the odds, a R-Bath agent lied…-Hal) (

On Wednesday July 15th I got a call from Re-Bath asking if they can reschedule for this following week of the 20th of July.
I said ok, Great!
She said they would start on Tuesday the 21st between 7-8am.
I agreed.
She said that was the shower only and they would come back on the 24th for the floor and finish on the 25th a Saturday.
I said but what happened to two days?
She again said the floor takes a while, I said ok.

I rescheduled my work again to accommodate them. (Re-Bath has no consideration for the customer once they get some money, no matter how inconvenient they are to them, it will be the “customers fault” for some reason.-Hal)
I don’t like the idea that now there were 3 days separating the two jobs and that I would be without a toilet or sink for 4 days, but hey it is only four days, and I am really looking forward to a nice big shower!!! (Yeah, only four days…-Hal)

On Thursday July 16th, a man from Re-Bath, named Matt Phillips called to ask me about the nightmare of a time we had replacing our old tub, He told me he had heard about it and he said it would be great for sales. I said I had the whole story on an email, very detailed and he was welcome to it. He asked if a girl, I believe named Melissa, could come by to take photos of the tub and me with a sad face to show the before and then could she come again later to show the after? I said ok, it sounded like fun. He said she would be at my house on Friday the 17th between 8:30 and 9am. So I said ok.

On Friday July 17th I waited till 12:00 when Re-Bath called to say they couldn’t make it and that they could come on Monday the 20th. I said fine. I am a little bummed that he waited so long to let me know, I would have worked today. (Sound familiar? Anyone? Talk about indifference at the very least, but really it's total disregard for the convenience of the customer. Very rude, very Re-Bath. –Hal)

(You may recall the agreed upon completion date was 7-30-09. They hadn’t even started the job, yet they are delaying it almost a week, and extending the work time by an additional 50%. And we’ll begin our counting at this point… -Hal)

We asked Chris if we could use the faucets that we have since they match our bathroom and are less than a year old but he said no, that in order to have a life time warrantee we needed to have them replaced, he told us what colors were available so we went with gold. (Bet Re-Bath takes them during the install...-Hal)

When we finished up, He informed us that Re-Bath will call us to set a time. That the whole process will take only two days since we were having a new floor installed by Re-Bath too.
Normally it is 24 hours but the floor will take a day as well.
(There goes the One-Day installation they charge a premium for… -Hal)

He gave us a copy of the papers stating that the job will be completed by 7-30-09. He gave us a price of $7,858.00. We gave him a deposit of $2,620.00 and we agreed on the prices and times and dates. When he left we were very happy with our decision. This is looking really great so far!! I need to come up with $2000 more between now and then since all I saved was 6k. I think I can sell my car.

On June 26 I called Chris to make sure he ordered a 32 inch tub. I was afraid he did not since it is not written on the form that he gave us. (Re-Bath is notorious for the salesmen making promises to the customer and not documenting them, in the end, the customer is the victim.-Hal) He said no problem the customer is always right, (Remember that for later.-Hal) and that the 32 inch shower was ordered. I thanked him.

On Tuesday July 14 Re-Bath called to schedule an appointment. They set up a date of Aug 3rd for the tub to be replaced they were to return on Aug 4th to tear up the floor and then again on the 5th to lay the floor then grout.

I asked why so long that Chris had said two days, Not three? She said well the floor takes a lot of time. I said you also told me that the job would be completed by the 30th? She said they were very busy. (Always an excuse for every broken agreement or promise, it is the only way Re-Bath knows how to proceed.-Hal) I said ok it was not a big deal. So I planned to have everything done that week and I rearranged my schedule to fit it all. I can’t wait this is going to be sooooo good!!

(It sounds like our guest is happy at this point even with some of the problems encountered. Stay tuned, it will become a story all too familiar and upsetting to other Re-Bath customers.-Hal)

Provided by someone who only wanted what they were sold by Re-Bath. A simple quick quality installation, too bad they chose Re-Bath as we did. Never again…

Please read this unfortunate but factual story, also scribed in much the same documentative and chronological fashion as we recorded our sordid dealings, including her thoughts at the time of the writing.

To be clear, this is another completely different Re-Bath “job” than what we lived through. See if any of it parallels your Re-bath experiences:

Starts off innocently enough…

On Monday June 22, 2009, I phoned Re-Bath to have someone come to my house to price a new tub or shower unit. I explained how we had tried to do it ourselves but it was worse than a nightmare.
I explained that we had an ad from a paper and that was how we heard about them. The woman on the phone said she would send a man on Thursday June 25th at 7pm. She was very nice and the call went well. She was surprised to hear how much money and time we had already spent on our tub. I feel like I made the right call!

On Tuesday June 23rd, I went to the Re-Bath store in Framingham to see the options. I liked the shower unit because it gave a lot of room in the shower. I liked the surround because it was flat and there was nothing to bang your arms on. It looked very nice and roomy. I loved it! The people there are really nice, very helpful and I am happy about this job! I feel like this will end all of our bathroom problems once and for all! (If she only knew what was to come.-Hal)

On June Thursday 25th at 7:15 Chris Dezotell from Re-Bath showed up and we discussed all of the possibilities. He was very informed and very nice to deal with. He measured the shower unit, I explained that we needed more room, and that the tub we put in was not the right surround and that was why there was no arm room on the left side. He saw it and agreed it was not right, he said yes you can see that. He said that Re-Baths shower unit would fit and work well.
He explained that Re-Bath will own the shower for life, and explained, if we bought it, it will be their responsibility and that we would be covered for life. He told us this is a stress free one day install. We talked to Chris till 9:45pm and picked out the shower and surround we liked, we picked out the doors the colors.
I explained to Chris that I wanted the Unit to come all the way to the door hinge, just as our old tub had before we tried to replace it, I wanted the door frame down and the tub or shower to go all the way to it because we really need the room and the one that is there now is not big enough.
He said no problem and that he will order a 32 inch shower unit, I stressed that the shower must be at least 32 inches since the 30 inch tub is WAY too small! Chris said that the 32 inch shower would be plenty of room. I pointed out how our shower head was not in the middle of our tub it is off side and you have to aim it out of the tub to hit the person in the shower. I told him I wanted the new one in the middle. He said that was also no problem to correct. (Same style all agreeing and promising salesman type we were treated too...Hal)

We went by the local Re-Bath “store” (the one we visited prior to purchasing our nightmare) the other day and it was gone. Gee, with such a quality product how could not stay in business? Yeah, right. Must've been their ethics, (lack thereof?).

A couple guesses: Either they gave up on our area, or enough people wised up to their scam that they could not afford to stay. Maybe they took from as many as that area could manage?

Not like it was in a high rent area, they were a scab on a blighted area. Good riddance whatever the reason is our take on it. We just hope they did not set up shop somewhere else to the detriment of another community.

Mold And Mildew

If you recall… part of the sales pitch it was that Re-Bath uses materials that have fungicide and mildew inhibitors. That the installation will not be susceptible to such growths...
Well, you guessed it, Re-Bath lied to us.
Our shower is so full of mold and mildew, even though we spray it down with the recommended (by Re-Bath no less) shower cleaner daily. And we do not live in a humid area. We have a fan and a window so it’s not like it should be a breeding ground for something “guaranteed” not to grow in this environment.

Just one more reason to NEVER DEAL WITH RE-BATH unless you enjoy having your time wasted, your intelligence insulted, and your home damaged all the while, paying through the nose for the privilege of having them screw you.

We just wanted to make sure everyone knows about this scam so we will continue to update this blog with the shortcomings of the abysmal installation attempts as they decompose. If only Re-Bath and it sleazy employees only had the life expectancy of this crappy product. Not to be confused with the B.S. line of lifetime warranty, we mean the real life of it, which makes a used Yugo look like it will last forever by comparison…

It’s apparently a national scam, not just local…

While doing research and trying to get help from anyone we could to straighten out this mess Re-Bath of California started and Re-Bath of San Diego perpetuated, we found an interesting and disheartening series of facts.

All over the country we found other people who have been treated the same as we were by both their local Re-Bath franchise operators and the national corporate office of Re-Bath in Arizona.

Testimonial after testimonial, all with so many common threads it is becoming nearly impossible to believe that Re-Bath is not just a poorly run sham of a company, but truly a scam operation backed by the corporate office. Every one of the testimonials that has progressed past the local level we’ve found winds up at the feet of the same people at Re-Bath corporate and the ripped off consumers are stone-walled.

It really does seem like they have a formula to rip off people wanting a bathroom make over.

The scam starts with complaints about the professionalism of the salesperson. If the consumer contracts with the Re-Bath franchise, they are overcharged, both in the down payment and the overall cost.

Next comes the part about them not getting the materials together in a timely manner.
Then they come late, are sloppy, usually unlicensed and rarely finish in the time the quoted. More often than not they cause damage and refuse to take responsibility.
This is happening across the entire United States.

Sometimes the workers never comeback and leave the customer with an unusable mess of a bathroom. Remember one of their slogans is One-Day, No Mess, No Stress, Blah Blah Blah. They are full of it.

Next the customer tries to contact the franchise only to be treated badly if they connect, but most of the time they are blown off by Re-Bath. Many times the customer is sued by the Re-Bath franchise before the job is done too.

Almost all Re-Bath scam operators pay their Better Business Bureau dues, so it looks like they are reputable, but we’ve found the BBB is not our friend either.

So the next step is for the customer to try to contact the corporate office after being blown off by the local cheaters. Here’s where we get some interesting alternate actions from Re-Bath corporate. Sometimes they are very sympathetic sounding “shocked that such a thing could happen”. Other times they are bullied or stone-walled. But the constant is before anything gets resolved, Re-Bath corporate refuses to help, they always back the franchise no matter what. Even if they sounded like they were on your side at the beginning. Keep pushing and they start with the threatening lawyer claims.

Here’s a call to arms for all the customers who have been cheated by Re-Bath. Let’s stand together and demand a fair end to this crooked companies actions. Make them take responsibility. After all they have always said they would, they just haven’t.
The internet is a powerful tool, let’s use it and take back our bathrooms!

Just noticed one more thing Re-Bath ripped us off for…

We just realized they never installed the grab bar or shower rail, whatever it’s called, that they sold us. When they first did the installation they “forgot” to bring it even though we asked each day, and they “forgot” each day before claiming we did not order after repeatedly “forgetting” it.
Yes, it was supposed to be a One Day Installation, but you can read earlier blog posts to see how that works.
If we did not order it, why did they claim they “forgot” it so many times before claiming we didn’t order it? Yep, goes right back to that honesty issue we’ve discussed that Re-Bath has such a hard time with.

We sadly also just noticed what looks like rust around the door tracks. It surprised us since we have never had a rust problem, and thought the material was aluminum, which doesn’t rust, or stainless steel, which shouldn’t rust either. But it seems to be par for the course as every time we turn around we find more about how much worse the terrible installations really are.

Call and ask for them to honor their warranty you ask? Yeah, they will either blow us off like before, or they will make matters worse like they did before. We cannot trust anyone in or associated with Re-Bath due to the actions we were victimized by.

We shudder to think what we will find next. Maybe the economy taking a dive has one potential good thing tied to it; it may put Re-Bath out of business. Sorry to all the people who think they have Re-Bath warranties, but really, you don’t have jack. But at least if they go under, many people will be spared the nightmares we had to endure by foolishly believing the lies they fed us.

Here’s a partial re-cap of what we are left with besides a huge loss of money because of Re-Bath…

So, we have:
A Crappy Installation.
We still are trying to clean up the caulk and silicone slopped throughout. Plus the caulking around the joints is very unprofessionally applied.
It is depressing every time we look at the bathroom. We were ripped off and now have to live with the poor job they did. The only way to fix it properly is to gut the entire thing out and build new. Unfortunately that won’t be happening soon since these weasels ripped us off so well.

Mold.
We were guaranteed that the installation would not get any mold, EVER! But it started growing mold within less than two months, and that happened on every installment.
THEY LIED ABOUT IT BEING MOLD PROOF! But then finding something they didn’t lie about is gonna be tough…
As you may have read, Re-Bath lied about just about everything. Yes, that is a general statement, but we are pissed at them for what they did wrong and did not do right and how they treated us.

Sadly it is a well ventilated shower with both a window and a fan, and we don’t even live in a humid climate.
We have a dank back bathroom in the same house that has no mold whatsoever. Simple deduction says it has to be Re-Bath’s materials that are responsible for the only mold problems we have in our home.

A Cheap Shower Pan.
The shower pan itself feels springy and overly flexible. It creaks and cracks when we step in it. We are afraid it will crack through. Guaranteed for life they said… Well, let’s hope we don’t need to find out; we certainly don’t have any piece of mind due to the treatment, tactics and lies we’ve experienced from Re-Bath and its operatives.

Shower Doors That Are Hung Crooked, Just Like Re-Bath. (At least they are not upside down now.)
We tried to have them hung straight, but they siliconed the top bar crooked with so much adhesive it can’t be repositioned with damaging the walls.
They are off enough that they creep open when the shower is in use, maybe from the flexing of the pan? And the vertical edges are clearly not straight either.

Walls that Look Wavy and Untrue. (Amazing how so many adjectives describing the poor workmanship also describe the ethics and the way Re-Bath operates.)

Maybe it’s because we’ve had time to look at the installation for a while now, or maybe they are going weird with time too, but they are absolutely not true and it is very apparent. The seams look like crap. We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, it looks like a seven year old with poor motor skills and bad eyesight did this installation.

Impossible to Touch Up Paint
They smeared unpaintable silicone and caulk everywhere. When we tried to repaint around the edges where they did such a crappy job of caulking (as well as tearing up the painted surfaces of the walls and ceiling), we found it was now unpaintable. We don’t know if they did that because they are ignorant unskilled workers, or if it was done intentionally to spite us. Or both. Due to the material they used we couldn’t even mask it off to spray to touch up.

A Shower Wand That Is Permanently Off the Wall
Just as well, it didn’t work well anyways. Just like Re-Bath employees! The main shower head itself was replaced months ago (by us) as it didn’t even last long enough for them to finish the installation. (Yes, that too was supposed to have a lifetime warranty.)

A Floor We Had to Replace At Our Expense
At least it looks good since we did it ourselves. But it was not a cheap repair of the damage they caused and refused to take responsibility for. And our workmanship only serves to make the bad job they did look even worse. So much for their claims of a high quality looking upgrade.

You are probably thinking we may be a tad overly bitter about this situation. Well if you were in our position and treated as horribly as we have been, you probably would be as angry too. Plus we feel it is our civic duty to warn others potential customers (or as they’ll probably call you, suckers) of these predators.

If their actions toward us are any indication of how they operate normally, then this is a group of people that will go out of their way to screw you. Why? No idea here, after all they do such a great job of screwing customers out of their money from the beginning, it boggles the mind why they also turn it into a personal attack situation too.

Beware of Re-Bath. They have shown themselves to us to be to be nothing more than a bunch of liars and cheats preying on trusting people. They will probably screw you if you give them half a chance. And the product they claim is so great and installed in our home is really just cheesy cheap low quality crap.

Yet Another Unethical And Illegal Response From Re-Bath. It Just Keeps Getting Worse.

We again get a response from Heidi. Remember, she did not have the authority, just a little while ago. Now she’s in charge again? What?

Who the heck is really in charge there? Pass the buck. Waste the customer’s time. Lie to their face. Don’t return phone calls. Claim you are the one who has authority. Claim you have no authority. Claim the fax machine is lying. Claim the customer is lying. Claim you only have authority again. Lie, lie, lie.

The product is a sham, the business is a scam. Re-Bath is a terrible company and the people that work it have proven to us that they sleazy jerks with no morals or ethics.

She wrote and sent the below email to us some time after 4:00PM. Had we not stayed late at work, we would not have seen this until sometime the next morning.

Again, this was sent with less than a four hour required response time or they would “cease all communication”. :

“Your email was forwarded to me, and here is Re-Bath, LLC’s response:
Attached is our final offer. You may return this to us via fax, by 8:00pm tonight and we will issue you a check for $5,050.00. This agreement cannot be altered or we will not accept it. If we do not receive the agreement by 8:00pm tonight, we will cease all communication with you and we will not make any future offers.
Our fax number is (480) 833-7199.

Who the hell do they think they are? THEY DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE OR ENFORCE THAT DEMAND! What unethical CHEATS!

A business or person cannot make demands like this legally. But this is Re-Bath, dishonest and operating in this bullying illegal manner to the end.

Not only is it illegal, there is no way anyone could remotely consider this is an ethical way to do business. They know they are creating an artificial deadline that is impossible to uphold in a court of law.

But then we already know perjury is common conversation for them from our experience first hand in court with Re-Bath agents. So why would we think if we ended up in court again they would remotely tell the truth? Absolutely despicable behavior.

They should be ashamed of themselves, but that would mean they have a conscience, trust us, they have repeatedly shown us they do not. They do have a lot of people’s money they have traded for a crappy low quality product, and apparently that drives them to continue to screw anyone they can.
But if that is all they have, and a sleazy work ethic, why not take it as far as they can. It’s not like it going to hurt their reputation, they’ll just lie some more.

Avoid this company and the scams they perpetrate on unsuspecting and trusting citizens. We learned the hard way Re-Bath will most likely screw you like they did us if you decide to use them.

The following day, after not accepting our phone calls, we received this from Heidi:

Subject: Re-Bath

The agreement that was faxed into us was amended from the original version of what was sent to you. Due to the fact that our General Release was not returned to us by 5:00pm on June 18th, 2008 we are considering our offer null and void and no further offers will be made.

Cowards and cheats. They refuse to speak with us. Since it was obvious Heidi was not mature enough or even had the authority we were led to believe she had, we had to contact the president and vice president of Re-Bath. Turns out these guys are just as cowardly apparently as they refuse to speak with us too.

You’d think they would want to resolve this, especially since it is 100% their fault. What a group of disgusting scheming cheaters and liars.
But they have our money and we need it to repair the damage they have caused.

Our response to these underhanded jerks was still civil and polite and fully clarified what had truthfully transpired.

Dated 6-19-08:

“Mr. Sanders, Mr. Murdock,We are very disappointed in the way this situation is being handled. Mr. Murdock, you stated "We would like to resolve these issues quickly to avoid any further delay & make sure you are fully satisfied."
When are you going to fulfill that statement? We, in good faith, did what we were asked to do by Heidi, met the time constraint of faxing the signed document, (See Heidi's email below. Heidi made no mention of requirements other than "by end of business day", and no time even mentioned at that.), only to have her deny the agreement by claiming she not to receive it by 5:00PM June 18th, 2008. And then claiming it was denied because it was altered. Nothing in her instructions prohibited altering the document in any way.
In actuality, Re-Bath's offer sent on 6-17-08 was a modified version of an offer we sent on 6-13-08. If you can modify the document for a counter offer, why can't we? We are only trying to make a fair agreement with you.
The fact is the fax was sent and confirmed received at the fax number provided by Heidi before 8:39AM June 18th, 2008. That provided Re-Bath with an entire day to contact us if there were any issues. We complied fully to the requirements given to us, (read the email).
Denial on the grounds she stated is not acceptable or part of the agreement. Nothing states we could not make a counter offer, or that such an offer would result in voiding the agreement or absolving Re-Bath of their responsibility. And it does not absolve Re-Bath of compensating us for the damages they caused to our home.
The changes made to the document reflected the oral offer made to me by Mr. Murdock during our phone conversation on 6-10-08. The original oral agreement protected only Re-Bath Corporate, and Re-Bath San Diego, not Re-Bath of CA. The document was corrected only to clarify and reflect that agreement and still does protect Re-Bath corporate and Re-Bath S.D.
To deny it wholly on the grounds stated by Heidi is without merit and counter to our original discussions and intentions. It appears too many people are involved in this and are not sharing between them the information discussed with me.
Re-Bath had well over eight hours to respond yesterday if something needed to be addressed. An oral offer was made to us for $5050.00. We compromised and accepted it. A written offer that was not clear was sent, we returned it well with in the time frame with clarifications, no restrictions were placed on the document being returned adjusted for accuracy of the oral offer. We expect you to honor your word and warranty.”

But sadly, they are not an honorable company…

Is That The Light At The End Of The Tunnel? YES, But It’s Not Daylight, It’s A Train and We’re About To Get Railroaded!

On 6-17-08 we received this email:

“Attached is our final offer regarding the resolution of your complaint against Re-Bath of California. This includes the Manufacturing Lifetime Warranty on the Re-Bath products. Please sign and return this agreement to us by end of business day Wednesday, June 18th, 2008. Once this is signed and returned to us, a check will be issued to you and a copy of the warranty will be sent with it.

After having the “agreement” (Maybe Re-Bath should look up the word agreement so they can understand it constitutes a meeting of the minds.) reviewed by legal counsel it was suggested a minor change should be made as the way it was written was not a balance offer by any means.

In fact said counsel used the legal term of “That is a Bullshit document, and who ever wrote it knows it.”

The minor change did not negate the intent, just slightly protected us in an area that was very unlikely to even occur, but would cause Re-Bath no harm, unless they were guilty of doing what they claimed they did not and were not doing. And even in that case it still would probably been a moot point. Is there enough double talk in there?

The fact that they refused to accept it and denied receiving it speaks volumes to their motives and intentions.

On 6-19-08 we received this untruthful email. (The claim that it was not received by 5:00PM is a total lie as we have the fax confirmation that it was received well before 9:00AM on the 18th of June 2008):

“The agreement that was faxed into us was amended from the original version of what was sent to you.

Notice they are canceling their warranty because they claim we did not meet the unfair short term arbitrary time frame they demanded that we meet, even though we indeed met it.

The warranty is not something they have the right to cancel. They are liable, PERIOD!

To claim we lost our chance at collecting by not meeting their arbitrary and unlawful deadline (when we have written documentation that we did) is flat out dishonest.

They don’t even have the right to demand that we meet that short deadline especially since it was made by sending a blind email!

WHAT A BUNCH OF RE-BATH! We are sure this is the way they treat the majority of the customers they cheat. It is astounding the lies they tell, and they can’t even keep them consistent.

If you are unfortunate enough to contract with them, the odds of you being treated like this, or Heaven forbid worse, are quite great.

Oh Joy! We Get To Deal With A Subordinate Who Has No Real Authority And Only Wants to Cheat Us Out Of The Reimbursement They Owe Us

We’re sorry, is that too bitter sounding? (Yes, that is sarcasm again.) Well suffice to say that if it happened to you those would probably be the same emotions you’d have!

Soooo…, (yes, it is very exhausting to deal with these cheats), we sent an email (below) and we were in standard characteristically Re-Bath fashion ignored, so we re-sent it (on the same day) June 16th, 2008 with a little preface just to help Heidi along.
Courtesy is not a trait Re-Bath employee’s embrace.
Nothing like dealing with someone who has decided to go out of their way to cheat and screw you for being unlucky enough to have only done business with them in good faith...

“We have not received a response from you in the four hours since we originally sent this. Please contact us, at the very least, verify receipt. You say you want to resolve this quickly, yet you do not take any action in that direction.
Heidi, Norm said you are now handling the reimbursement of the damages. We would like to know when we can expect the money owed us by Re-Bath for the damage caused by the water leak Re-Bath of CA created. It is not fair to continue to cause us inconveniences.
Re-Bath said it would remedy the situation, but has not. To refresh you on the situation, $5050.00 covers the water damage. It is owed to us. Re-Bath, by law, must pay for the damages they caused. It is not negotiable. The lifetime warranty in writing is required, (from an email you sent us:

“Upon your agreement to the completion of the above work, San Diego Re-Bath will order the required materials and contact you to schedule the installation. Once the above installation is complete, you will receive the Re-Bath Limited Lifetime Warranty on the materials used. San Diego Re-Bath will offer their standard workmanship/labor warranty of one year.” ). A copy of the invoices from Pat's Pronto Plumbing for the work they did in our home is also required.If Re-Bath wishes to pay the partial out of pocket expenses we incurred because of Re-Bath CA for the total of $8130.00, we will release Re-Bath from the warranty responsibility. We still require a copy of the invoices from Pat's Pronto Plumbing.Re-Bath has already been sent release agreements for both options. We wish Re-Bath would uphold the commitment made by Norm Murdock in an earlier email:
"We would like to resolve these issues quickly to avoid any further delay & make sure you are fully satisfied."
That quote was sent to us almost one full month ago, yet still these issues have not been resolved. And we are certainly not satisfied because of that. We have provided everything we were asked to. Please find a way to resolve this now. You have my contact number; you obviously have my email address. Please contact me ASAP.”

"We would like to resolve these issues quickly to avoid any further delay & make sure you are fully satisfied." What a lie that line is! Yes, we’ve said it before, but they are the ones who lied by stating it.

For those keeping track of our time Re-Bath has wasted, this horror story has been running now for over 36 weeks. That would be 255 days. Closing in on 9 months.

For Heavens sake, it would have been easier to make a baby (certainly quicker) than it is to have Re-Bath do a One Day Installation. Good Grief! What a bunch of liars and cheats! Our recommendation: Do Not Deal With Re-Bath!

We Could Have Made A Baby Faster Than Re-Bath Can finish Their “One Day Installation”!

Since Norm Murdock was now out of the office, (nothing like expediting something of this caliber), we now had to deal with Heidi Seyler again, who had dismissed us and refused to help us last week.
Said she was not allowed to help us earlier. But now she is? Huh? Yep, more dishonest tactics… What ever it takes for them to screw the customer.

One wonders if this is the same Heidi Seyler who races in the NDRA. If it is, and her Re-Bath ethics spill over into the racing scene, one could be likely to assume she cheats in order to get the “wins” attributed to her.
Just an observation, nothing more.
And our sincere apologies to the Heidi Seyler in the NDRA if she is not the same person as the one at Re-Bath and only unlucky enough to share the same name as the person who has worked so hard to cheat us and apparently (according to the other blogs and forums that are now all over the Internet) other folks unfortunate enough to have fallen for the dishonst advertising and work ethics that run rampant from the franchises up to the top of the corporate office.

Have we mentioned how BAD the Re-Bath customer service is lately? It is the most abysmal and atrocious customer disservice we’ve encountered, definitely spiteful.

So, to clarify who was to be the contact person for this never ending ordeal, we sent this email:

“Norm, Does Heidi now have the authority to resolve this situation? She told me she did not the last time I spoke with her. I would like to get this resolved quickly.”

His response was:

Yes, she can consult with other managers on duty to resolve.

The Grinch Would Be Proud

This is the email that was sent by us on 6-13-08 accompanying the two counter offers:
“Subject: Release Agreement

Mr. Murdock,
The damage from the water leak caused by Re-Bath is not something that allows Re-Bath to eliminate the warranty we were given (see Heidi Seyler’s email below)in order to be compensated. The warranty and the leak damage are two separate issues. The release you submitted is not a fair agreement. You are asking us to give up our rights in order for Re-Bath to pay for damages they directly caused and are already fully liable for. Option one is payment in full, as per the punch list you requested. It fully releases Re-Bath and it's affiliates from all responsibility. Option two covers the damage done to our home by the water leak created by Re-Bath. It also requires Re-Bath to honor the warranty last issued by Heidi Seyler on 2/22/2008. It does not release Re-Bath of California from responsibility. (Email referenced is provided below.) Copies of the work orders/invoices from Pat’s Pronto Plumbing are still required for either option.”

Norm’s response was this. Kind of like a counter offer, a weak one…:

“Re-Bath is willing to amend the agreement to leave our Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty intact for your Re-Bath system. Please let me know if this is agreeable to you & I will amend the agreement accordingly.

And again we stated our case in hopes that they would find some compassion within their black hearts….

May I suggest option one as outlined and attached in today's first email. You are again asking us to relinquish rights and not allowing fair consideration to do so. We are out of pocket that money. To make it conditional that we absolve Re-Bath of CA for any responsibility in order to be compensated for the damage they caused and are liable for is not a fair consideration or even compromise. You have the ability to close this issue. “

Nope, black as tar… He acts as if we never had the conversation where he must have deviated from the “Re-Bath rip off the customer guide book”. But then, that is predictable to us now after dealing with him for this much time.
All he offers is to uphold the warranty that they are required by law to. Since when is following the law a compromise? What an unethical manipulative cheat.
And what do they have to offer to make us think they will even honor it? This company has proven to us they have no honor. But if we are to proceed we need some answers, even though in the past, answers from them have turned out to be lies…

But we asked anyway…:

“Norm, Who will provide service should the need arise? We may have forgotten to mention that Norm was ready to hang Randy Summy and Re-Bath of California out to be responsible for the entire mess as that is the originator of this mess.

After all, to Re-Bath, the consumer is the ENEMY.

Apparently this blog about the problems experienced while dealing with Re-Bath has struck a nerve…
We do see the humor and folly in this, but it is equally unsettling and disturbing.

All we wanted to do was point out how badly we were treated by Re-Bath and help inform other potential consumers so they could protect themselves from going through a hellish ordeal like we endured by being foolish enough to contract with Re-Bath.

But now the comments coming in response to our blog would suggest our most vocal readers have some “issues”. Anger? Oh yes, it sure seems like it. Mental instability? Again, it really seems like it.
Or could it simply be a case of the offender throwing another tantrum?

We’ve assumed, (and with good reason), some of the people we’ve dealt with through Re-Bath were, shall we say unbalanced, certainly predisposed to not have a firm grasp on the truth. But if these recent comment posts are indeed from Re-Bath affiliates, and therefore a possible indication of their state of mind, it is very alarming.
Remember, this is a company who initiated the problems and lied to us from the beginning, and got caught doing it; all we did was tried to defend ourselves from their dishonest practices and try to obtain fair compensation for the damage they ultimately caused.

This may only be a coincidence, but how utterly ironic can it be that only days after Randy Summy/Re-Bath of CA was notified by the California State Contractors License Board about the impending fine for illegal actions, this blog received a barrage of snide and juvenile “retorts”?
The timing is absolutely astounding!
Add to that, the majority of these comments arrived on the exact anniversary of the first bungled and botched attempt by Re-Bath of CA to install the low quality bathroom products they sold us.

We can assume it is Randy that is doing this. We can only guess the little jerk thinks it is safer to rage at us hiding behind a keyboard instead of prank phone calling this time around. There is a precedent that leads us to believe this is the situation. (See an earlier entry in this blog for an explanation if you wish. Blog post Friday September 6th 2008.)

And whether it is him, or possibly some other jerk(s), why only post by anonymous snipes? What is there to be afraid of? Too childish to stand up for the words you try to type? Feel like a big person firing off drivel while hiding like a little girl behind the shield of a computer? Think you really have any power when lying with the protection of assumed anonymity?

And no, we will not be publishing those unimaginative, curse filled comments that are basically what amount to no more than another childish temper tantrum, or on a more positive spin, a very pitiful effort at Lord knows what type of humor.

Counter Offer. A Normal Way to Reach an Agreement. Unless You Are Re-Bath Where Fair Is Not In Their Vocabulary. No Ethics.

In normal civilization, a situation like this would mean that a counter offer was in order since the first offer/release by Re-Bath was what you could call, a real low-ball offer.

So to be fair to us, (and yes, even to fair to the unfair Re-Bath folks), we submitted these two options as a counter offer and compromise.

Option One absolved them of their warranty and obligations just as they demanded in their original offer, but partially compensated us monetarily for our dealings with Re-Bath. Mind you this is a compromise for us, asking for less than we are out of pocket, and what we had discussed with Norm Murdock earlier, only to have him renege on his offer:

This General Release (“Release”) is made, this ____ day of June, 2008, by NAME DELETED, an individual residing at ADDRESS DELETED (“Releasor”), in favor of ReBath, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, and its franchisees, Re-Bath of CA and Re-Bath of San Diego.

Option Two was an even bigger compromise by us to only get reimbursed for the most recent damage; we just wanted to get on with our lives! We’d still have a crappy bathroom to contend with, but at least we could get our kitchen repaired.
But since they would not be fully compensating us, (only about 50% of what we were out of pocket), it seemed only fair that they agree to honor their warranty:

Notice the wording “In favor of Re-Bath”. In favor of? They are paying out, in effect Losing. Yet they choose that phrasing? Got a bit of an excessive ego going on there maybe? A bit full of yourselves? Yeah, everyone knows what you are full of…

They word it in a way to try to void their own warranty and absolve them selves of any and all liability and responsibility.

Again, what good is a Re-Bath warranty? If you need to use it, they will try to void it just like this.

Of course they did not get that returned signed; instead pair of fairer options was presented to them, including an easy way off the hook for them.
But do you think they considered that?

Dealing with Re-Bath is like dealing with a spoiled child, a spoiled bratty bully who hides behind an ignorant mommy or daddy who thinks they can do no wrong when they don’t get their way.

Re-Bath Apparently Requires a Little Legal Refresher Course About Warranty Obligations

We had to send this on 6-13-2008 after reviewing the “release” Re-Bath corporate sent, seems someone was either going the extra mile to cheat us, or was very ignorant:

“Mr. Murdock,
The damage from the water leak caused by Re-Bath is not something that allows Re-Bath to eliminate the warranty we were given (see Heidi Seyler’s email below*) in order to be compensated. The warranty and the leak damage are two separate issues. The release you submitted is not a fair agreement. You are asking us to give up our rights in order for Re-Bath to pay for damages they directly caused and are already fully liable for.

Option one is payment in full, as per the punch list you requested. It fully releases Re-Bath and its affiliates from all responsibility.

Option two covers the damage done to our home by the water leak created by Re-Bath. It also requires Re-Bath to honor the warranty last issued by Heidi Seyler on 2/22/2008. It does not release Re-Bath of California from responsibility. (Email referenced is provided below.)

Copies of the work orders/invoices from Pat’s Pronto Plumbing are still required for either option.

Crank Calls? Give Us a Break! Childish Behavior, the Sign of a Real Loser…

Another Side bar of sorts.

This is point that should be brought up and it goes to the attitude and mentality of this outfit. It is about the crank calls we would receive from phone numbers (thank goodness for caller I.D.) attributed to Re-Bath of CA.
These calls coincided with the delivery of court documents. We would receive our copies of actions we’d taken against Re-Bath, so we knew Randy Summy and Re-Bath CA were receiving a set at the same time we were, or maybe at most the next day. And sure enough, the crank calls would start.
Sheer coincidence? Very difficult to believe.

Talk about childish, let alone unprofessional behavior, but then again, we are repeating ourselves again… This is one very dishonest and unprofessional outfit that makes a personal issue out of bad service. Lies, name calling and crank calls. What is this first grade!?

We must again recommend you avoid Re-Bath like the plague.

Compromise? Re-Bath Will Not Compromise You Give an Inch, They Demand a Mile

This was our response to that self serving attempt by Re-Bath to rewrite the facts for Re-Bath’s benefit.

This email was sent on June 11th, 2008:
“Norm,
I really thought you would offer something fairer to us considering the situation, and especially since you started off a few weeks ago by stating “We would like to resolve these issues quickly to avoid any further delay & make sure you are fully satisfied.”

But as I said yesterday, I would accept the $5050.00 and still will, although it does not fully rectify the situation nor fully compensate us for damages done.
Send your document for me to sign.

I do hope you will try and be able to get the work orders from Pronto Plumbing to us.

Please see what you can do to expedite this.

You see that is what is called a compromise. Not a fair one for us, we are getting screwed, but we are trying to resolve this mess.
The document they sent was from another prior complaint situation apparently as it was titled as a settlement between them and Cold Stone Creamery. Sounds like they screwed Cold Stone Creamery too.
Just an observation…
Why else would such a document exist? We’re willing to listen to logical excuses.
Or did they plagiarize it? Again, with such low ethical standards as we’ve seen from Re-Bath, who knows?

And what about that invoice from Pat’s Pronto Plumbing? Why is that so difficult to get them to provide?
Could it be they want to erase the paper trail that ties them to the work? We think so; we have no reason to believe otherwise…

Of course we responded to that detestable attempt to cheat us further. And after explaining to Norm verbally that he was reneging on his oral offers and his written pledges to take care of this (say it with us):

He sent this email in response, as if by now writing a conflicting account of what he said will somehow make it so. This guy is sorely lacking in ethics.
In parenthesis between each little paragraph is the actuality “(Our response)” of the situation to temper Norm’s slanted perspectives. It is not part of the email sent to us; it is just “equal time”, as they say, to balance the reality:

(Our response: But when Re-Bath corporate took the facilitation of the “remodel” over after multiple botched attempts by two different franchises, they assumed that burden and that contract. In fact, per Re-Bath corporate, our warranty is still to be handled by your office. Ask Heidi, we did when we pointed out Re-Bath of S.D. would not provide us with a contract despite being asked on multiple occasions. Are you now telling us she lied?)

Norm continued:
“Re-Bath LLC has attempted on multiple occasions to facilitate the repair of the deficiencies that you have identified with your Re-Bath installation. In our last conversation, we both agreed that further attempts to repair the installation problems would not be in either party’s best interest.”
(Our response: Can’t argue with that, your crack teams of installers have proven without a doubt that they do not have the ability to do the job.)

Norm continued:
“Re-Bath LLC feels the offer that has been made is fair. It repairs the damage that you claim was caused by the Re-Bath installation. It waives the balance due on the installation so in effect you have received a full Re-Bath remodel at half price. I did not include Option 3 from your Construction proposal for repair of the attic as it was not clear that this was damage caused by the Re-Bath work. If it is, please explain.”

(Our response: Uh, Fair? You have got to be kidding! There was no balance due. Re-Bath of Ca ripped us off and this “repair” by Re-Bath S.D. started as an attempt to reconcile that grievance. You can’t just make up an arbitrary demand for “balance due” after you have lost a lawsuit. Shame on you.

You don’t remember? RE-BATH LOST ITS LAWSUIT AGAINST US! You are not entitled to one red cent !
And you know damn well the water damage to the ceiling and in the attic was caused by the leak(s) Re-Bath caused. You were told by Re-Bath S.D. and you saw the photographs we sent, you even commented on them. It shows Re-Bath workers working in the wet mess they caused, they even admitted it too. You sir are lying!)

Can you believe the audacity?
Re-Bath Corporate (Norm Murdock) now refuses to honor the warranty, yet they want us to absolve them of any and all responsibility in order to get them to pay for the water damage to the kitchen ceiling and bathroom floor and give up all rights to collect from Re-Bath of CA for subsequent damages. What the heck do they think a warranty is, or means?

Earlier Norm said he would compensate us fairly. This jerk now actually expects us to surrender our warranty to collect, or forfeit reimbursement of the damages they caused us. And for less that the agreed upon monetary figure! Granted the warranty probably is not worth the paper it’s written on, but how can anyone at that corporate level expect to leverage a written lifetime warranty they provide (as a cornerstone to the sale of their product) and owe on due to their own incompetence against the damages they caused.
Mind-boggling! He is either a total moron or total crook. (Anyone wishing to vote or comment is welcome to.) What he is trying to do is absolutely criminal.

Let’s make this clear to everyone reading this. By law you cannot force someone to give up the rights to the warranty in order for them to collect on that warranty. Think about it.

Let’s say you buy a new car. Let’s say it comes with a 6 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, pretty standard stuff.
When it only has been driven 50 miles, the engine blows up. The dealer and the manufacturer then tell you they will only fix it if you sign off and state that if any else ever goes wrong with that car, it is not under any warranty. If you don’t sign away your warranty, they will not fix or repair the car. You are stuck with it.

Of course that is illegal in the automotive world and in business in general. But that is exactly what Re-Bath VP Norm Murdock was demanding!

Do you really want to deal with a company that operates with those kinds of deceitful ethics?

Another point to be made is that Dave Sanders, the President of Re-Bath corporate was being copied on every email sent to Re-Bath, and refused to take our calls or respond to voice mail messages or email messages. In effect hiding under his desk it seemed. But then we got the same impression from Mr. Murdock on many occasions too. Sure makes them look like a bunch of cowards and cheats, and their actions shore up that perspective too.

Why Won’t Re-Bath Take Responsibility for the Damage They’ve Caused to Our Home!?

The following is the response we sent on June 5th, 2008, regarding an earlier conversation that took place the same day with Norm Murdock, a VP at Re-Bath corporate, and now we find out a dishonest fellow to boot:

“Mr. Murdock,
First of all, just to be clear, while I am responding via email, that is not an acceptable offer.

Frankly, I am very disappointed and somewhat confused by your response to the Punch List you requested we provide to you. Especially considering what you wrote in the email dated 5-19-08. I thought you were being genuinely sincere:

During a subsequent phone conversation on 5-20-08, Mr. Murdock, you offered to reimburse us for the $2900.00 down payment and our court costs incurred when Randy Summy sued us for final payment before completion of the job. We provided the Punch List you requested, with itemized costs and explanations. We promptly provided you with a quote from a licensed contractor, even offered to get a second quote but were told by Heidi Seyler not to provide a second quote.

Please explain to us what has changed? Why are you now unwilling to pay the full costs to repair the damages directly caused by Re-Bath’s employees’ carelessness? All we asked was to be fairly compensated and have the work that was performed documented for our records. (I'm sure if you were in the same situation you would want the same for your home and family.) These items, we were told on multiple occasions by various Re-Bath employees and representatives, would be taken care of and provided. Yet they have not been. Even you Mr. Murdock, said and wrote that you would resolve these issues to our full satisfaction. I took you at your word.

We have been patient, and in return our house has been continually damaged, and ourselves inconvenienced further with every attempt by Re-Bath to “fix” what they did wrong. We did not ask to be victimized by the franchises of Re-Bath, we’ve bent over backwards to be accommodating, we just wanted what we were originally sold. But every time we trusted a Re-Bath employee to do what they said they would do, they failed us, to the point of them causing major damage to our home and sometimes insulting us. We have been lied to by the installers, salespeople and management. In fact you have been lied to by them too judging from what I have been told has been said about us from Heidi Seyler and you Mr. Murdock.

The repair quote alone for the kitchen ceiling and the bathroom floor is $4800.00. That does not include the repainting of the bathroom ceiling (which you offered to pay) or the $2900.00 deposit, courts fees and compensation for lost time and major inconvenience that you orally offered in the aforementioned phone discussion.
Again, Mr. Murdock, I was led to believe from your email and phone conversation that you as a representative of Re-Bath were willing to correct the mistakes made by the franchises. Your offer of $4300.00 with no liability whatsoever not an acceptable, reasonable or fair offer. That amount is not enough to cover the expenses required to repair the damages done by Re-Bath. In fact the out of pocket costs well exceed $8000.00 to date.

Please consider this situation from our point of view.
Honestly, how would you feel, and what would you do?
If you contracted with a company who did not meet its obligations, yet took it upon themselves to cause you more and more trouble and aggravation, resorting to personal attacks and harassment, even to the point causing them more work to do the wrong thing than just to do the job right? And in the end, damaging far more that just the small area they were to improve in “One Day, with No Mess, No Stress, No Inconvenience”, and dragging it out for over 8 months so far.
That is honestly how we have been treated by the California Re-Bath franchises.

As I mentioned in previous emails and phone conversations, we would like to get the repairs scheduled so we can try to return to a normal life as soon as possible. Re-Bath caused the damage and already agreed to pay for it. Please let’s get this resolved fairly. Considering how this has been handled, I would think Re-Bath would want it to be resolved as much as we do.
I expect to be able to speak to someone at Re-Bath corporate with the authority to discuss and possibly make a fair resolution by midday Friday June 6th, 2008. I will call if I am not contacted first.

An entire week went by with no responses from Re-Bath. Gee, we were led to believe they cared for the consumer and wanted to settle this quickly.

Really, seriously, here are a couple of quotes from Mr. Murdock himself:
“We aim to complete all customers' jobs in a timely fashion to their complete satisfaction.”
“We would like to resolve these issues quickly to avoid any further delay & makesure you are fully satisfied.”
It would appear the bullshit flag is firmly attached to that!

On June 5th 2008 at 12:35PM we called Norm Murdock at 480-844-2596 ext126 and left a voice mail message saying that we had expected to hear from him one week ago, per his comments, so we could schedule, or at least get on the waiting list of the contractor. We also reminded him that we had sent him the punch list he requested the day before and would like him to either call us or respond to the email. We left our numbers to be sure he couldn’t claim he had no way to contact us. But really, when dealing with liars, what difference does it make?

We did get a call back, and now Norm Murdock has the gall to offer us a less than 50% of the amount we had discussed earlier to compensate us for the damages. In round numbers they caused us damages in the range of nearly $9000.00.
Now Norm Murdock was reneging on his offer made on the 19th of May. And in that offer we were compromising a significant amount and willing to accept less than we were due just so we could get on with our disrupted lives. But that compromise by us was treated like the blood in the water to a shark analogy. This guy is not a fair person, he is just like everyone else at Re-Bath we’ve had the misfortune of dealing with, unethical, and dishonest!

Never mind he instructed us to create a punch list in order to proceed, which we did. The guy must be an idiot as he didn’t even know what a punch list was we found out when we sent it to him, (or was he just lying?)
He comes across to us as another mindless company shill spitting out buzzwords oblivious to what they mean. Or worse, if he truly knew what a punch list was, which was not discernable during our conversation, then he was just intentionally wasting more of our time.

Which is worse? We think the latter. One is ignorance, the other is malice. He had no intention of using it. He just wanted to waste more of our time and energy. (This is a guy you just know has heard the F-word used in a description of him on many occasions, but certainly not by us.)

Now to Get Re-Bath to Pay For the Ceiling They Destroyed…

Sadly, the story is still not over, you may recall two separate sets of unlicensed Re-Bath installers made a leak which destroyed our downstairs ceiling. Now we are faced with getting that replaced at another major inconvenience to us. Can you believe the Re-Bath installers actually thought we would have them try to fix it? Don’t make us cry.

Our bathroom flooring is destroyed due to Re-Baths multiple attacks on it. The baseboards are gone. The sub floor is damaged. The walls are gouged up and it had a custom multi-color pattern painted on it which will be difficult if even possible to match. And the bathroom ceiling was also gouged up and the paint torn off by Re-Bath so it is in need of repair and repainting.

One would think that in such a severe situation, the people responsible (Re-Bath) would try to facilitate a quick remedy, but no, this is Re-Bath. It is merely another opportunity for them to inconvenience us and cost us more money and time. To them this must just be icing on a cake. Another chance to screw someone!
Even though they are 100% liable and responsible and they know it, we know it; yet they do everything they can to make our lives miserable and drag this atrocious mess out.

Originally Norm asked us what the cost of all the repairs would be. We provided Re-Bath corporate with a full quote (actually had two lined up) in under four days to expedite the repair process of the kitchen ceiling.
Norm Murdock even agreed to monetary compensation for the troubles Re-Bath had caused us. Sharp guy, (shark guy?), he refused to send those offers in writing, and like a sap, we believed him to some degree, but as mentioned before, we write down all the conversations and take very good notes. This was no exception, but then neither is the fact that he later reneged on and lied about the offers.

He made it sound like they were going take responsibility and fairly compensate us for the damages they caused. He wanted a “Punch-List” with every detail listed. We spent hours and hours compiling this very detailed list. Hours that we really did not have to spare, but we were willing to work with them. (Yep, they got us again, we’re sure that Son-Of-A Bitch got a good laugh at us for wasting even more of our time.) We found out first hand Norm Murdock is also a prime liar like so many of the other “Management Material” Re-Bath employees we dealt with.
We’re going to bet in the Re-Bath Handbook of Guidelines and Ethics there must be an entire chapter on how to lie with a straight face and an even tone to your voice.

OK, you’re right, there is no such book. After all, Re-Bath has no ethics, so what would the point of such a book be? Just spouting off there...
On May 28th 2008 we sent this email trying to get some action. We thought responding with a thank you was a polite way to reestablish contact. Ever try to be polite to a shark?

“Mr. Murdock, Thank you for processing the reimbursement of the plumbing repair. We look forward to receiving the check in the couple of days.It has been a week since we submitted the quote for repair of the damage done to our home By Re-Bath. We would like to move forward and get these repairs done as soon as possible. While we may now finally have a working shower, it is far from a finished project. And the exposed bathroom floor is more than just an eyesore. Both the kitchen and the bathroom still need to be repaired. What is the status of the quote provided by the contractor for the repair, can you provide us with an update on 5/29/08? We really need to schedule with him as soon as possible to get in line for the work to be done.I am still trying to compile the "punch list", but due to the lost work time and subsequent catching up, I have not been able to complete it yet. Looking forward to your response.”

In true Re-Bath fashion, we received no response. They know they are in the wrong, they know they are responsible for the damage, yet they choose to make every step as difficult for us as possible. What a bunch of jerks! But we are repeating ourselves…

One Day Installation. No Way. Try Eight Months! And It Still Is Not Done!

We were without our shower for 8 entire days (this time) due to the total ineptitude of Re-Bath of San Diego, and somewhat by Pat’s Pronto Plumbing, and most certainly also by Re-Bath Corporate for purposely delaying authorization to get a competent plumber to fix the absolutely atrocious work done by Re-Bath.
Still, we have to attribute the initial problem to ReBath of California. After all, without their blunders and subsequent harassment and total failure to do even a mediocre job, we would not be here at all.
I guess maybe ReBath corporate deserves multiple accolades (that is sarcasm folks) in this matter since they could have remedied this mess back in October of 2007 when they were first contacted but decided to let us get ripped-off by Re-Bath of Ca. instead before jumping on the bandwagon themselves to rip us off too.

A one day re-install to fix two previous major screw ups?
Actually it was only supposed to be a one day job back in October of 2007. But it took this group of liars and bumbling idiots eight months to do a one day job, and left a wake of destruction that will take a significant additional amount of time, also measurable in months, to repair. We were completely without our shower for over two weeks! And there was no need for it other than the bad performance of Re-Bath agents.
And they don’t even want to pay for the damage they caused either!

We have to say it again. RE-BATH IS AN APPARENT SCAM TO RIP-OFF UNSUSPECTING AND TRUSTING PEOPLE.
Re-Bath is like the Toner Pirates of the late 1980’s. They use a boiler room mentality. Get in, get out, and screw the consumer. Make a lot of legal sounding threats to intimidate, all the while they are unlicensed and operating illegally themselves. They just posture up like they are within their rights, while their own contracts are wrought with fraud and contradictions.
They operate as schoolyard bullies, but they are just cheats. If you stand up to them, they hide behind mommy corporate, sadly mommy corporate lets her little brat franchises get away with this deplorable conduct.
Once they get shut down, as so many of them have been, (and possibly one more on the way… Re-Bath of Ca…), they just open up again under another name and continue to rip people off.

That is exactly what Re-Bath of California did. Before they were Re-Bath of Ca, they were another fly-by-night bathroom rip off company that screwed enough people to get shut down. Look up Lloyd Summy, protégé son Randy Summy’s daddy and the name “Bath Pro, CL 597621”. Then after that it appears they used the name “LSRC corp. CL 645660”. That last CL number is the one Randy Summy claimed was his when he contracted with us as Re-Bath of Ca. We don’t think he is old enough to have earned that license when it is listed as being established in 1992. A family of shysters as far as we are concerned.

Protect yourself; do not do business with them. We’d recommend no one ever do business with any affiliate of Re-Bath. We sure wish we had done a better job of research before we got suckered in. We thought we did enough checking about the reputation of Re-Bath before contacting them. But we didn’t. And that is the purpose of this blog, to help other potential victims avoid the nightmare of dealing with these Re-Bath franchises.

It would have taken much less time and money to have had a real bathroom upgrade done. Even a full tear out and rebuild would have ultimately been less expensive, much quicker and we would not have ended up with the cheap in value crap we have now.
Yes, we said real. Re-Bath did not do a real upgrade. They cannot do a real upgrade apparently. At best it is a cheap quality mask that is way overpriced. In our case it is only a series of patches on top of other crappy work, their Re-Crap work.

Considering all the problems they ignorantly caused us, and intentionally caused us, as well as purposely wasting our time and damaging our property instead of trying to fix anything, it would have been cheaper to have hired a real contractor and torn out and rebuilt our bathroom.
Yes, that’s what we meant; Re-Bath contractors are NOT REAL CONTRACTORS. In fact, we have yet to meet one with even a legal LICENSE!

It appears to be a case of planned maliciousness and intent to defraud people fully orchestrated and premeditated to take something (money, lots of money) in return for very little (cheap plastic façade).
And the fact they can’t even bring themselves to show the actual products they are going to install, (i.e. Bait and Switch), is even further evidence of this ongoing swindle. That is our opinion of the matter.

We’re taking a break in the telling of this soap opera / nightmare to pass this recently discovered information on to you. After all, the main purpose of this blog is to protect other potential customers of Re-Bath from falling victim to their tactics. At least to make them aware of how they have treated other customers. Yeah, odds are they’ll treat you the same if you give them the chance.

We sure wish we had found that blog before we contracted with and got screwed by Re-Bath of California, and then Re-bath Corporate in Arizona, and then Re-Bath of San Diego, then Re-Bath corporate again....

Just type in “Re-Bath Liars” in Google and it will come up as one the first links on the first page. The same name as one of the people at Re-Bath who tried so hard to cheat us is in that blog too, go figure.
And there are multiple listings of people who refer to Re-Bath people as liars, not just one or two. Wonder why that is? And within those listings are many more. Could it be that they are LIARS!?

It was not just a fluke that we had these problems, it is now painfully obvious that it is the way Re-Bath operates through out the whole country. There are far fewer happy customers (Are there really any? The “happy” ones sound like shills.), than ones that have been Ripped Off by Re-bath. And since most people don’t go public with these situations, one can only imagine the true numbers of dissatisfied victims of Re-Bath nationally. The percentage has to be staggering.

Please explain why after repeatedly asking for our local qualified honest clean plumber to be allowed do these repairs, it has taken an entire pain in the ass week just to authorize him to fix Re-Baths and their agents screw-ups!

And do they really expect to be able to "fix" that cheapo plastic showerhead?

Why could this not have been set up before? The Re-Bath approach to that question? Because that would have been the right thing to do.

Re-Bath does not do the right thing. It is not what they do. They do rip people off, (us), they lied in their advertising, (did to us, and probably thousands of others) they lied in their sales pitches, (did to us), they lied to the customer at every instance when things go bad, (yep us too), which is very often, (if not nearly always in our experience).
They seem to thrive on inconveniencing the customers as they in effect steal from them by installing sub-standard materials and damaging their property, all the while blaming the customer for basically being stupid enough to have hired them in the first place.
Yeah, harsh, but it is what happened to us!

Re-Bath Wastes Your Time When They Can’t Take More of Your Money

It has now been FIVE MORE FULL CONSECUTIVE DAYS without our shower. Re-Bath cares nothing about their customers or their convenience, let alone what most people would consider a basic requirement for sanitary living.
We received this answer the evening of Wednesday 5-21-08:

“We are arranging for a plumber to come out tomorrow to fix the leaky shower head. You will be called in advance to confirm the service time.

Great, another Re-Bath fiasco in the making. There is no way we are allowing Pat’s Pronto Plumbing back in our home after the lies they told us and the poor work they performed. No wonder they refuse to document what they did. It smacks of shoddy workmanship and it looks like they don’t want to be responsible. Very scary.
We can’t trust anyone who works with or for Re-Bath now. You shouldn’t either, but that’s a call you’ll have to make.

Our response was sent on the same evening and was honest, civil and polite and even gave them some “wiggle room” to save face. But we seemed to have forgotten that they are two faced and it apparently was viewed by them as a sign of weakness, (Sharks/blood in the water?) Try to be nice and see what it’ll get you… at least dealing with these sharks.

Thank you for the timely response. The time frame available for a plumber to replace the shower head today begins at 4:00PM and gives him one hour and forty-five minutes to facilitate the repairs. I'll need to know if this schedule works by11:00AM to be able to accommodate it. Please understand that we are not trying to be uncooperative or difficult, but we have an appointment that cannot be changed and I cannot lose any more time from work than the amount I'm already losing by leaving early to allow entry at 4:00. The plumber that was sent before is not an option as he was late to an unacceptable degree and even more importantly, he lied about the work performed and materials he used. After further inspection this morning it appears the center hole of the escutcheon was not sealed as he told me and I noticed water being drawn into the crack. The escutcheon must be removed and the insides inspected and dried.
I compared the hand held shower wand part with the normal stationary part (that head that does not work correctly) and cannot see a way to switch or interchange them. I hoped it would be an easy repair that I could handle, but it appears to be assembled with an upset pin (or rivet).
This brings up another issue that was brought to the attention of the Re-Bath of California's installer and to Randy Summy (via phone) at the time of the original installation in early October and also to Heidi Seyler shortly thereafter. The fixtures that we were shown and were sold to us by the salesman, John Park, were constructed of metal according to him. Granted, he only showed photos, not the actual fixtures, but specifically described them as all metal construction, not plated plastic. No literature with specifications was made available about the fixtures during his pitch. What was installed was a cheap plastic product, as evidenced by its early failure at this time. While I realize the fixtures are supposed to have a lifetime warranty via Re-Bath, if they don't even last a year, Re-Bath will be replacing a lot of them. I can't imagine these fixtures coming from the manufacturer with such a stout warranty. I also realize that the odds are it was damaged during the last installation attempt, but again, if they had performed the logical testing on the work performed before leaving our home...
In the interest of saving all involved some time, I suggest the quality metal massage type shower head we were sold should be what is installed. I do not think what is on there is a product that is designed to be repaired when it fails, it logically would be discarded. I'm not asking for anything more than what we were sold.
And since a plumber is going to be doing this repair, it seems logical to have him also remove the escutcheon and the white caulk around it, dry it, and apply correctly clear silicone. I am aware of the potential of one day delay of use of the shower again, but at this point I think you'll agree that getting it done now makes more sense than having another potential wall/ceiling leak and/or being inconvenienced more in the future, plus it saves Re-Bath a nearly certain future service call. At the same time the shower pipe can be secured as referenced in yesterday's email.
Please inform the plumber that written documentation of the work performed is required to be provided to us before he leaves the premises. In addition, we need the copies of the work orders from Pat's Pronto Plumbing for the work performed on both 5-17-08 and 5-21-08.
We are still working on compiling the "punch list" and other information.”

Back To The San Diego Plumbers, Part 3. They Must Be “Official Re-Bath” with Ethics Like These…

"Good Morning Mr. Murdock,
Again, I am astounded at the actions taken by agents of Re-Bath while supposedly attempting to rectify previous mistakes. I thought I had been clear to everyone I spoke with in making a point about stopping the shoddy work and the lying that has become the status quo for responses from Re-Bath franchise employees. When we would rhetorically say, what can go wrong next, it or something worse would.

The plumber that was dispatched not only showed up late, apparently using the same exact bogus excuse as the Re-Bath guys used to explain their tardiness on Saturday, ( we checked the traffic reports online and found no mention of these claimed accidents). OK, so it's just more of our time wasted, but to compound the matter, but the plumber flat out lied to me when I said the "clear silicone" sealant he used to secure the escutcheon looked white, but he said “it will dry clear because it is clear, just looks that way when wet”. I guess I should have made him redo it on the spot, but I figured after all that has happened, and considering the situation this these guys would not have the audacity lie to my face like that, and that I did not any proof it wouldn't dry as he said at the time. Now that it has dried, it has turned opaque white and looks and feels like it is just latex caulk, not even silicone.

Granted,it looks like we can finally use our shower, another 24 hours later, finally tonight. (That's five days without use of our shower this time due to S.D. Re-Bath's mistakes.) The repair needs to be done correctly at some future time.

But unfortunately there is more. I decided to test the shower this morning since we were not even given a demonstration to show that it worked properly by the installers on Saturday, or the plumber yesterday. Sadly the shower head sprays out the top of the enclosure over the door and onto the window. I tried to rotate the head to aim the spray inward but it has so many errant sprays it is of no use. I then noticed the shower head pipe coming out of the wall wiggled a very significant amount while I was rotating the shower head and the escutcheon around it is not fastened securely to the wall either. Another instance of a Re-Bath installer lying to our faces when we pointed out it did not look right last Saturday. Miguel told me he knew how to fix it and would secure it, then later told us he did secure it with putty. Sorry, it is not secure.

I have attached pictures showing the escutcheon caulking, the water spraying from the head, and how soaked the top of the door rail was after about 30 seconds of running the water. The water spray made it all the way to the toilet, and of course onto the floor in between.
We really would like our shower to be usable, I know that has been stated clearly many times, yet it is still substandard and not functioning correctly. You mentioned you had other technicians that have made many customers happy, maybe one of them should have been dispatched for this repair?

These may seem like petty or minor concerns to you, and if these were the only problems we had I would not be contacting you today other than to provide the contractors quote. But considering the events leading up to them, and the way the “service” call was orchestrated yesterday before even contacting me, it goes exactly to demonstrate the lack of honesty and integrity we discussed and that was shown by the Re-Bath franchise agents and certainly of Myrna's lies and fabricated theatrics she told you about our conversation. I welcome a three way call with you, her and I, if she wishes to explain herself. As I have mentioned multiple times, I do see a clear difference in the actions and attitudes between Re-Bath corporate and the Re-Bath franchise. That is a positive reflection for the most part on the corporate staff, and unfortunately a series of very negative experiences with the franchise people that seems to be escalating instead of them trying to help us.

So, this means the job attempted last Saturday and yesterday is still not completed correctly.
I’m not sure what I can do to repair the shower head to control the spray. I believe it needs to be replaced. We are compiling the "punch list" you requested as well as a list of compensatory damages to be addressed. We have the original repair request lists we’ve submitted in the past and will update them as quickly as we can.
Also attached is the contractors quote. I am looking forward to a prompt and fair solution to all of the problems as well as a timely response from you this morning.”

Yes, there are a few sugar coated lines in there, as it is often said, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. We were trying to give these cheats the benefit of the doubt and be civil too, we actually always have been civil to them despite our feelings toward them, there really is no reason not be, except after being figuratively kicked in the teeth repeatedly by them…

Back To The San Diego Plumbers, Part 2. They Must Be “Official Re-Bath” with Ethics Like These…

OK, so it is still Tuesday 5-20-08. We now have to leave work and race home to meet the plumbers who are supposedly already en route and should be at there at 11:00AM, which does not leave much time to get there.
But you see it really isn’t a rush after all. The Re-Bath people lied again. The plumbers were told to meet at our home at 12:00 noon; at least we're told that by their dispatch when called to see why they are so late. (See below email for their priceless excuse!)
Hmmm, did Re-Bath lie to force us to be inconvenienced yet again? Plausible possibility.
Or are the plumbers lying to cover their behinds for being late? Also a logical take on the situation.
But a truly tough call considering the blatant dishonesty both parties have already exhibited, and sadly will continue to exhibit in the future.

To recount the experience of dealing with the plumbers this time, below is the email drafted and sent to Norm Murdock the following morning.
We were so taken aback about the malicious lies told by Myrna we didn’t relay this information to Norm after returning to the office and calling him. Plus more issues became apparent that evening when we returned home and we saw the truth of what they had done.

Oh yes, almost forgot… We asked for the paper work the plumber conveniently avoided providing me with when he skated out ever so quickly on Saturday. He gave me a B.S. song and dance about “Only if we pay him now…”.
We pointed out he is by law required to provide us with this paperwork. He said he will have Re-Bath send it. Yet another lie as it turns out...
We for one will never deal with Pat’s Pronto Plumbing after the experiences we had with them on the two occasions they came to our home. We caught them in multiple lies and they tried to hard sell us with over priced plumbing items we did not even need, but they made it sound like our home was in dire peril if we didn’t allow them to “fix” something that was not broken. They are in fine company with Re-Bath. No wonder they work together!

Re-Bath of San Diego Manager Goes Off The Deep End

After we sent the email to Mryna at San Diego Re-Bath, an immediate response call was received from Heidi Seyler at the Re-Bath corporate office (about 10:30AM) informing us they had dispatched a plumber to our home and they would be there at 11:00AM. She was told she should have checked with us first as we were not even home. She told me to call Myrna in San Diego.
(But Heidi said she had dispatched the plumber. Now Myrna’s in charge? Hmmm, sounds fishy doesn’t it...)

Coincidentally (?), Myrna called when hanging hung up with Heidi. Here’s where it starts sounding like a soap opera or a bad sitcom. This Myrna woman showed her true self and the depths of dishonesty she is willing to lower herself to try to screw someone when she feels she’s been caught doing the wrong thing.

An email was drafted with notes taken in real time during this conversation with Myrna, but we decided to wait and send it to Mr. Murdock after meeting the plumber at our home. We thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt (huge doubt by this time) and see if they could redeem themslves by rectifying the situation and we didn't want to make any additional waves so to speak. Unfortunately for us, they were going to try to create a tsunami instead of work to fix the damage they caused.

We were literally dumbfounded when we received the below email upon returning to the office.

From Norm Murdock on 5-20-08:
"I am being told by San Diego Re-Bath that they called you prior to sending out a plumber to repair your faucet today but that you erupted at them & threatened a lawsuit. This is not consistent with what we agreed upon today. Please advise.

Well it is 100% B.S. for one thing.

What Myrna did not know is that I was at work during that conversation and in an office where loud noise is not acceptable or tolerated, and have witnesses that will back up the assertion that I never raised my voice. One of them coincidentally was a police officer. (Good thing we have speaker phones...) She was totally fabricating the “incident”. What a liar! But then again… She is a Re-Bath representative…

Mr. Murdock was immediately called and sent the below email, while speaking to him. This is the one drafted in real time during the conversation with Myrna about 10:30 AM on 5-20-08, but delayed sending:

“Mr. Murdock, Apparently the art of finding new ways for Re-Bath franchises to further inconvenience us continues. I was treated to a verbal assault by Myrna when she called to inform me a plumber was on the way to my home. I asked her why she would send a plumber to a residence without even checking to see if anyone was there to allow entry. She then claimed she was tired of me threatening her (?!). When I asked her to explain that rather strong and false declaration, she refused to address it.
What she is unaware of is that I am at work in public earshot of many people, and just I don’t make threats. After repeatedly asking her to clarify just what she deemed a threat, she claimed my comment of “if she can’t help us, we will find other avenues” was meant as a threat. I beg to differ, really.
I don’t need this abuse. Why is it continuing, even could be deemed escalating? After all the problems incurred by us due to these peoples’ incompetence, this treatment is more unacceptable than ever.
To top it off, I had to leave work, loose work time and incur the added fuel cost to go home, only to wait for almost a hour for the plumbers to arrive at 12:40, not the 11:00 (or 12:00 I was told after I arrived home and waited for 40 minutes). Just another “normal” way Re-Bath franchises work apparently.
I’m requesting something be done form the corporate level in a positive direction, not this uncalled for and unwarranted petty game playing and time wasting and especially the lying has to stop.”

Wow, what a lying psycho whack job she is! And she is in charge of what Re-Bath claims is one of their very best franchises. This is one of the best?! Be afraid American Consumers, Be Very Afraid! Better yet, just avoid contact. We pity the poor soul who may meet her via a fender bender or some such other altercation. You know no matter what, it could not ever be her fault...

Re-Bath of San Diego and Re-Bath Corporate Drop the Ball Again and Leave Us with No Shower

Now Tuesday May 20th has rolled around and we have not had the use of our shower for another four days now due to the total and unrelenting incompetence of Re-Bath. We were told on Saturday the 17th that a plumber would be dispatched on Monday the 19th, but Re-Bath drug it’s feet and did not do what they said they would.
(Wow News Flash! Re-Bath Lied!? Naw, it happens all the time, put it on the back page, old news...)

We called Myrna at Re-Bath S.D. since she did not provide us with a valid email address the last time we spoke on the day before. (BTW, Talking with her is not an enjoyable experience, at least for us.)
There is no excuse for disabling a customer’s shower and then refusing to put it back in working order ASAP. You can’t tell us what Myrna, and possibly Heidi, were doing by causing delays wasn’t punitive, and Myrna had a copped really bitchy attitude towards us on the phone, but then again she showed that side of her back when her workers were late several weeks ago too.
After trying to get some action to get our shower back in working order via phone calls, we realized we were going to need a paper trail, so to speak, so we went back to reiterating most of our phone conversations in emails and Word documents, it was a way to keep things honest as the written word can cut down a lot on hearsay, and time has a way of twisting some memories. We had no idea how correct and beneficial that line of logic would turn out to be.

We had to call Re-Bath corporate now since Myrna was claiming it was out of her hands, yet she was the one who was to dispatch the plumber from San Diego. We never should have trusted her to initiate dispatching a plumber as we were told.
(Yeah, we really should have heeded that old Aesop’s Fable. Kick me once shame on the ass, kick me twice, shame on me. Ha, just noticed that, “ass”, how ironically appropriate!)
But really, who would expect anyone to believe that someone in Tempe Arizona would be required to dispatch a plumber from San Diego California to drive to Los Angeles California? We still don’t believe it. Why not use a good “local to the problem” plumber and expedite the repair instead of inconveniencing the customer as much as possible?

Hmmm, think we just hit on another something there; it is all about treating us as bad as they can get away with at this point. It’s the only thing that really jibes with the facts.

At this point it was getting ridiculous how they were saying it was everyone else’s responsibility and acting like we were really unreasonable for wanting a shower (our primary shower) to be useable! And this over a “One Day Installation” that was supposed to be finished about 8 months ago!

Re-Bath really sucks, (for lack of a better term)! But then again, they sure seem to try hard to. At least they can accomplish that one something they set out to do... They certainly have proved to us they cannot do what they advertise though.

Re-Bath Corporate VP Sends a B.S. Email

On 5-19-08 we received this response from Norm Murdock, a VP of Re-Bath corporate. We thought he was going to finally take some responsibility and try to make something right in this mess.
We found his choice of wording in his first paragraph particularly interesting, especially the second sentence.
And also the second to the last sentence in the last paragraph.

Don’t want to ruin the story for you, but it is pure unadulterated poppycock. Or, well, really much worse… I’m sorry; I have to throw the bullshit flag with this pant load he wrote, or more likely pulled off the company apology list.
Please remember, it has been eight months since this started and he has known about it for most of that time, and we have had prior contact with him and the President of Re-Bath, Dave Sanders.
Anyhow, please read on:

"Heidi Seyler forwarded your e-mail to me below.First of all let me apologize for the unpleasant experience you have hadwith Re-Bath. We aim to complete all customers' jobs in a timely fashion totheir complete satisfaction.Here are the facts as I understand them. The work was originally completedunsatisfactorily by Re-Bath of CA. We then dispatched San Diego Re-Bath tofix the problems with the original installation that you were not satisfiedwith. I understand that the urgent issue today relates to a loose plumbingvalve/faucet; Heidi is working with San Diego Re-Bath to try to get aservice technician there tomorrow (Tuesday) to repair. I also understandthat there may be some water damage associated with a leaky valve/faucet forwhich you are getting an estimate to repair & you will forward to us uponreceipt.What I am unclear about are any other "punch list" items that need to becorrected from the work completed by San Diego Re-Bath. All we could think of from reading that was: Yeah, right Mr. Murdock, we’d like to believe you, really we would. But look at the track record of all the Re-Bath employees we have had the awful experiences dealing with. We’ll give you the benefit of the doubt for now, we are fair people, certainly a lot fairer sounding than your cohorts, and we will give you the opportunity to prove those words true, if you can!
As much as we hoped, we knew deep down he would probably still try to cheat us, and we were right, he did.

Re-Bath Bait & Switch Tactics

So, let’s see if we can understand how Re-Bath apparently does Bait & Switch for these items. They sell you on a product and it’s such a great item that you will not need the lifetime warranty it supposedly comes with. But they actually install a cheap low quality item that fails in a very short amount of time. But since they did not install what they sold you, it is not covered under the warranty. Is that how it works? Sure seems unfair.

Let’s see, how many items do we feel we were “Baited & Switched” on by Re-Bath?
Well, for one, the thickness of the wall panels they installed is substantially less than the sales samples they showed us. We do have a sample of left over material from the installation, and from the sales samples to prove it.
Another is the above/previously mentioned shower head(s).
The seat for the shower is another item that was switched on us and failed very early on as mentioned in an earlier blog post. They didn’t even mount it to the studs as they claimed they would.
The adhesive is another Bait & Switch type item since one of the selling points was no mold or mildew due to the use of fungicidal adhesives. We did get mold, and they didn’t use fungicidal adhesive.
We were sold a grab rail, but it was never provided or of course installed. They were supposed to come back a third time since they “forgot” it twice originally. We don’t know if that truly is Bait & Switch since they probably only ripped us off on that one. Is that worse? Maybe it’s fraud too?
We found out that the Re-Bath shower pan originally installed by Re-Bath of Ca was a cheap Home Depot type item that retails for about $200.00. Not the higher quality one we were shown and ultimately had installed by Re-Bath of S.D. (Hey they did end up by default doing the right thing on that one point, still it nowhere near offsets for all they troubles they caused.)
They got us in on the quick and non invasive, easy (One Day Installation, No Mess, No Stress and No Inconvenience) pitch. They knew they could not do it, yet they charged us a premium for this “service” and fully failed to deliver it. Seems like Bait & Switch, but we think it is really more like Fraud or maybe Breach of Contract?
They also promised us a written warranty contract to protect us from things like a leak (which so ironically and sadly happened) but reneged on as soon as they took our money.

Gotta say it again, they were caught being flat out liars. We made it clear that without this agreed upon additional warranty, there was no sale. Again, not sure if it constitutes a true Bait & Switch, but it definitely has a “Switch” characteristic to it to us, and the Bait part is they were well aware they would not get the job unless they provided the document (or lied as they did).
So to summarize, there are these eight items in the Bait & Switch arena:
1- Overall Wall System
2- Shower Head
3- Shower Seat
4- Mold Resistant Fungicidal Adhesive
5- Grab Rail
6- Shower Pan
7- Time Frame to Install, and not be Intrusive.
8- Withdrew additional warranty they promised before we agreed to contract with them.

Suffice to say, it is obvious that Re-Bath salespeople, and as far as we are concerned all Re-Bath employees, will say anything to make the sale as well as supplement the sales pitch with representations of items that are far superior to the actual products they install.
Call it what you will, Bait & Switch, Fraud, Lying, Cheating, maybe even Larceny in some cases, (We think it might have been attempted larceny with their trying to take our shower head. It was of value and we stated we wanted to keep it.), the bottom line is we were Ripped-Off by Re-Bath and odds are from our experiences you will be too if you deal with them.

And as if they are not satisfied with installing cheap junk after selling you a perceived quality item, they haul away your old stuff that can be better than what they are installing!
Thankfully we were able to retrieve from the first installers the high dollar and high quality shower head we had when they originally tried to do the install. We made it clear that we wanted to keep it, but they still took it and buried in the back of their truck, we're pretty sure they were hoping we would forget about until they left with it. Even when we called them on it, it took several reminders and walking one of them out to the truck and making him dig it out to give it back.
The next day when we asked where some of the other old items were he told us they took it all to the dump. When they went, we can’t imagine. They left too late to go to the dump they said they went to, and were supposedly tied up the morning. We suspect they reuse a lot of what they take from Re-Bath remodels and sell or otherwise profit from it.
It reeks of unethical actions, and downright dishonesty in the case of our showerhead.

Re-Bath Hiding Defects

Maybe the reason they did not show us how the shower worked before they left was because it didn’t work properly? It sprayed water almost everywhere except where you would stand to take a shower. It shot out over the door and sprayed all the way to the toilet as well as dousing the floor and spraying the window. Remember the floor is now partially exposed unfinished wood and maybe they figured throwing more water on a floor they already damaged and a sub-floor they already damaged is no big deal. But that is assuming they actually thought about it, which we were beginning to doubt now as they have not exactly exhibited themselves to be all that sharp.

When testing the shower we also noticed that when we tried to rotate the shower to at least make it useable in the interim, the pipe coming out of the wall was not anchored. Can’t these fools do anything right!? Especially after the damage they have already caused!

Now, when we were sold this new shower system we were sold metal fixtures. It was stated very clearly that they were high quality metal shower heads, one fixed and one hand held, both with shower massage features. Instead, they brought and installed cheap Chinese made plastic shower heads. Even with our soft water this piece of cheap plastic crap only lasted about 6 months. And guess what, they tried to claim it was not part of the lifetime warranty now. Funny, it was when they sold it to us. Oh yeah, but they sold us a high quality metal unit…

More Re-Bath B.S. And a Recap of This Mess Sent to Re-Bath Corporate.

They re-hung the shower door and made a point to show us how straight it was. (What happened to “we hang them crooked to keep the water in”?) But even though the door was hung straight, the track was installed a little crooked now. And the white flecks of caulk were still in the silicone?! How the hell did they do that? Even after we pointed it out again, and they said they would fix it right away, they still left it in there. Yep, real honesty with these boys... They did cut into the silicone and make it look worse before leaving though.

They did not show us that the shower worked because they said it would void the warranty if it got wet during the first 24 hours. Hmmm, that didn’t stop them on earlier occasions…

The following is the email we sent Heidi Seyler on 5-19-08, two days after the latest attempt.

”Hello Heidi,
I wish I could say the installers did a good job on Saturday the 17th of May 2008; unfortunately, there is now a much larger problem caused by the Re-Bath installers. I know you and corporate Re-Bath did not have any first hand control over these situations, but the facts remain as stated below.

The first time Re-Bath of California did the installation back on October 5-6, 2007, they left us with a leak where they installed the mixer valve behind the wall. I know we discussed this when we spoke the afternoon of April 4th 2008. As you may recall, I even pointed out that I was not asking for Re-Bath to compensate us for the damage done to our kitchen ceiling at that time since it was not visible due to kitchen cabinets covering the damage. Well, now things have gotten very bad.
When Re-Bath of San Diego did the re-install March 21-22, 2008, they said they fixed the leak created by Re-Bath of California, but in actuality they left an even larger leak and now the ceiling of our kitchen has a big sag in it due to that leak. It is damp and mushy to the touch and the seams of the panel are showing the stress, you can also see in the texture of the ceiling where the nail heads are. I went into my attic while Re-Bath of San Diego was here and we looked at the ceiling from above; (they could see it through the hole in the bathroom wall); it had a layer of standing water mixed with construction debris. Of course I cleaned it up and dried it best I could, but the damage had already been done. The leak also flooded the drywall behind the fixture panel and water logged the bathroom floor to point of warping it. We are not talking about the floor covering, the actual wood floor under the floor covering is now water damaged and warping.
Luis called Pat’s Pronto Plumbing in from San Diego to fix the bad plumbing joints done by both of the earlier Re-Bath attempts. We were informed they are the official Re-Bath plumbers. The plumber looked at the damaged ceiling and told us there would be no problem with Re-Bath’s insurance taking care of it.
I provided new wood to replace the waterlogged pieces, and Luis and Miguel replaced the drywall in the bathroom before installing the replacement acrylic panel.
After almost nine months of water leaking inside a wall and on top of the downstairs ceiling, we now have a major mold concern. To compound that issue, the adhesive used to install the panels does not have any mold resistance properties even though that was a big selling point made by Re-Bath and we were incorrectly told by Luis that the sealant they use does have said properties. Here is a link the products website: http://www.silco-inc.com/silco12.htm We had mold growth in the shower after only a few months of the first installation (done in Oct. ’07) and we now have an overly inviting environment created by Re-Bath for mold growth with no barrier or protection to keep it from growing.
We are also left with a warped bathroom floor and ruined kitchen ceiling, both caused by the leak. We have contacted a licensed contractor for a quote to make the repairs to the ceiling and floor.
And as if that isn't enough frustration created for us by the installers, they did such a hack job to our wall installing the same panel last time we now have to live with the bad alignment and sloppy caulking again. Don't worry, we're not asking for them to replace it, we see now it is a task beyond their abilities and have decided we will just cut our continuing losses and just live with it. We just need our bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling repaired.
This originally “just one day”, then “just two day installation” has mushroomed into now almost nine months, so far, of aggravation, stress and inconvenience, and now we have to endure more intrusion into and disruption of our lives to have two additional major repairs performed all because of Re-Bath agents damaging our home. We have not been unreasonable in our requests for a decent job to be done in a timely manner. It is utterly amazing to us that so many things can go so wrong at the hands of the employees of this company, especially after being treated as we were from the start of work by Randy Summy/Re-Bath of California. Never once has a Re-Bath agent/employee shown up on time for us, ever! They always end up staying late and rushing when performing work, to the detriment of the job.
We do fully realize you have tried to help us, and we thank you for your efforts and expect you to continue to help us, but we have been ripped off by this whole ordeal for far more than the money we are out of pocket.

More Unprofessional Behavior From Re-Bath and Re-Bath Allies

The water had to be shut off and instead of allowing us to call our local responsible regular plumber; they had one sent from San Diego, probably over 100 miles away.
Yes, it took hours for them to arrive, and yes it was very inconvenient again.
We were even treated to a hard sell scare sales pitch by them to have them install a $490.00 valve so our pipes don’t burst. What a load of hogwash.
They claimed they were the official Re-Bath plumbers for all installations from Los Angeles to San Diego.

We asked why this was the first time they were ever here as every Re-Bath install attempt done here required a plumber. It’s interesting that they have an “official” plumber, but choose not to use them twice at the expense of our home due to the leaks they caused. Or he could just be lying? We’ll leave that one out there without making a definitive call.

We will say that he refused to provide any paperwork regarding the work done on our home. We must have asked a half dozen times, and he said he would only provide documentation if we paid him right then. For repairing incorrectly done plumbing by Re-Bath? Well, it seems they are just as ethical as Re-Bath, birds of feather you know.
He did finally agree to leave a work order documenting what work was done. But he high tailed it out as fast as he could without providing it. Yes, we consider that to be dishonesty.

We got the water turned back on and they went back to work on the installation, but they still managed to screw it up by hacking up the wall to the point they had to extend the wall panel out and leave partial tiles to cover the additional damage they caused. It looks like a second grader did the job, an uncoordinated second grader at that. This was one of the main points of the cosmetic side of the installation we were concerned about. It was discussed every step of the way, yet they still were able to screw it up AGAIN! We cannot believe how stupid these jerks are! Or are they ignorant? Or do they just not care? Sadly it is the consumer who ultimately has to live with this crap.
They were unable to make any of the wall panels look like much more than a patch job.

We also noticed that despite the sales pitch of using mold and mildew proof adhesives to attach the wall panels, the stuff they were using this time had no such fungicides in it. The earlier installations used an adhesive with fungicides, but then again, we saw how well that worked. We know this because we read the labels on the tubes during each installation.
When we asked about this discrepancy we were met with the tactic of “we won’t finish if you don’t let us use it and then you won’t have a shower”. Great, childish threats again, ho-hum… Then it was back to the old “it’s what Re-Bath always uses”. That was a lie too… No surprise, but very tiring to say the least. Then it became, “you tell us what to use”. Why should we have to tell the “professionals” what they should know? We are just comparing what we were sold with what they were installing. You know they would say it voids the warranty too. Another Bait & Switch deal from Re-Bath?

Re-Bath Causes A Catastrophe

On the morning of Saturday May 17th, 2008, about two hours before the Re-Bath crew from San Diego was scheduled to arrive, we noticed our kitchen ceiling was significantly bowed. It was right under the bathroom in the same area as the earlier leak caused by Re-Bath of California. But now there was a 4 foot by 8 foot sag!
When the Re-Bath guys showed up on time, (HA! On time? Nope. On Re-Bath time maybe. Of course they were late again!), we showed them the ceiling and how it was apparently waterlogged.
They went to work removing the shower door and fixture wall; ironically (luckily?) the wall panel they came to replace was the wall the leak was behind. Imagine if they had not come to fix their last error, our ceiling would have probably fallen during the next week or so and done thousands more dollars of damage.
Once they exposed the pipes in the wall it was shooting a stream of water out of the joint THEY CLAIMED THEY FIXED! Re-Bath of San Diego badmouthed the shoddy work of Re-Bath of California and then proceeded to MAKE IT WORSE! Instead of a drip it was now a stream, a constant spray.

We checked in the attic adjacent to the shower and found it to be flooded.
The wood bathroom sub floor was now warped too.

They schlepped all the debris out of the house as fast as they could, but we were still able to get photos of it. It was obvious they were trying to down play the damage and amount of water logged materials. But what can you expect from this group? Dishonesty, lack of accountably and covering their asses are apparently the primary points of their job from what we’ve witnessed of them.
They even had the nerve to tell us it really wasn’t as wet as we thought it was after they spent some time covering it up. As if we were too stupid to know what we were seeing with our own eyes.
Oh, the big sag in the kitchen ceiling is not a clue that is as wet as we think?
The standing water in the attic we cleaned up is not as wet as we think?
The waterlogged as a wet sponge drywall they tried to hide isn’t as wet as we think?
The soaked insulation they tried to hide from us (but it leaked out the bag) isn’t as wet as we think?
How the hell do they know how wet we thought it was? The damage had been done, and this is their idea of damage control, moronic to say the least.
We’re sure you can tell by now how disgusted we are with the lies Re-Bath employees propagate as normal conversation. We don’t think they have the ability to be honest quite frankly. It would certainly cut into their business if they were required to be.

Well, instead of being able to get this next uncomfortable experience over in timely manner, once again we were told we had to wait for materials. This will turn out to be more than six weeks of waiting.
This has always had us wondering. When they really needed to, they showed up with materials the next day, but they make it sound like they have to make it just for you. Only when they come with the panels, they always have to cut them to fit onsite. And the pattern we chose we were told was one of most, if not the most, common pattern.
What gives? Are they lying? We think so, but about what? In this case we don’t know, or why? You would think the sooner they finished the job the sooner they would get paid.

Oh yeah, that’s right, they illegally charge the customer 50% down payment before “ordering” the materials. California law states that a down payment for this type of work is to be no more than $500.00 or 10% down.

Let’s see how this could work shall we?
We’ll bet they create this false wait time to somehow justify the excessive down payment. This way they rip off the consumer before they even provide anything tangible. And when they screw up on the installation, or just don’t finish it, they are already turning a profit. We wonder how many times they never come back to do the installation at all?
Then when they sue the unsuspecting customer for the balance they claim is due, they can’t lose in their mind. They already have most of what they want, (since they charged more than the materials actually cost), now they claim if the customer doesn’t pay up, they lose the warranty which frees Re-Bath from any responsibility, or if they some how collect, its pure profit on top of it all.

That plays out to be quite a scam don’t you think?! Conspiracy theory? You decide. We are just spit balling ideas...

Since it was obvious Heidi was lied to by Myrna, (Hmmm, she’s starting to act just like Randy Summy, a coincidence, or the way they are taught?), we sent Heidi photos of some the new problems. During a phone conversation on the afternoon of the 3rd of April, Heidi agreed to look at the photos so she could see firsthand what we were describing.

This is an email sent on 4-3-08:
Hello Heidi, Attached are some pictures taken per our conversation of 4-3-08 as well as a word document with some explanations of the photos. It turns out the bow in the wall is truly 1/2 inch deep, not 3/8 inch deep, both are excessive and unsatisfactory and not to the standards of anyone dealing with any sort of quality in these matters. We are very disappointed in the way this situation is being handled. We trusted Re-Bath to do what they said they would do only to be told afterwards the inferior work is up to the standard we were originally sold. Please do us a favor and review your companies sales information and advertising and tell us honestly if you think what has been installed in our home meets the standards touted by the advertising.Our floor is now torn up and additional damage was done to our wall by them even though the installers said they would not be causing any additional damage. (Pictures of that damage can be provided too, but as I mentioned in an earlier conversation, I was willing to work with you to resolve this mess and was willing to shoulder the cost of the floor and touch up of the existing wall damage, but to do more damage and still not fix the problems?) All we are asking is to have the fixture panel replaced as we were told by Luis it would be when he admitted they made a mistake at the time of the installation. They told us they would be back to replace the panel, why are they not being held to their word? Why are we expected to live with an error in installation? We have dealt with Re-Bath in good faith. We were very thorough in explaining what we wanted, and they said they understood fully and would have no problem doing it. We even provided the installers with a home cooked meal and drinks throughout the days they were here. This is not acceptable customer service.Looking forward to hearing back from you.

We couldn’t believe the response…

We were astounded and pleased to hear that Re-Bath of San Diego was going to come back and repair the bowed fixture wall. Concerned too, as we now had seen how they work and react to situations where they screw up.
But sadly we felt backed into a corner. We had a bathroom that had cost us thousands of dollars and was unattractive, unfinished and did not function properly all due to Re-Bath agents. It was an embarrassment to have this mess in our home. They had confiscated our original materials, destroyed almost everything else related. We could not go back. We were at their mercy and could only hope they would be able to do what seemed to be the impossible for them, simply install one wall in the shower and make it all look nice. At least not like the cheesy and shoddy looking way it was at this time.
So we reluctantly agreed. Very fearful of what more they could damage…

Re-Bath Expects the Customer to Bite It When They Screw Up Repeatedly

We waited until Tuesday to contact Re-Bath of S.D., just to give them every opportunity to show us that a Re-Bath franchise could for once hold to their word. We again were disappointed, not surprised though. After getting the run around, (another status quo routine for all Re-Bath’s) we were basically told that is all they were going to do. They claimed they already did more than they needed to do to fix the mess the Re-Bath of Ca franchise created.
Interesting perspective, recreating a mess in a different way than before (when it was unacceptable) is above the call of duty and acceptable for this company? Can you say hypocrisy? And by this time Myrna was, shall we say, not a joy to speak with. She had become this way on Friday when called to inquire regarding the whereabouts of her “best” workers when they had become hours late without even calling.

Our only recourse was to contact Re-Bath corporate and explain the situation. But again, the franchise (Myrna) beat us to the punch and described the situation (one she had not seen mind you) to Re-Bath Corporate and claimed we were asking for something that was beyond the abilities of their system. She claimed we were exaggerating how bad it looked.
Beyond the quality of their system, yes most likely, but not beyond what we were sold or assured they could do. You may recall they bad mouthed the first installation and said they could do much better. Well, then why didn’t they? And now they claim we are too picky? They were just as picky about the Re-Bath of California’s inferior work. They didn’t say we were too picky when they first saw how bad it was and agreed it was shoddy work.
Oh, we know, we get it, we get it! They’re HYPOCRITES! Or is it they have no sense of responsibility? Both, is our guess.
Heidi Seyler at Re-Bath corporate basically dismissed our assertions of the poor work done due to Myrna’s secondhand and intentionally dishonest description of the situation, even though we pointed out to Heidi that we were bending over backwards to accommodate them in ways such as not requiring them to repair or even reimburse us for the ceilings or the floor they damaged and being patient despite the way we were being treated over this “One Day Installation” that was now six months old and still not done!

Remember, compromise to Re-Bath means you give up everything and they give you even less than any token offer they may have made earlier. We noticed this attitude from the franchises up through the corporate people. (And it will get worse later.)

Note that it had now been almost three weeks since they caused this secondary mess and we were still trying to get them to work with us.

Also, you may recall that they sell heavily on their LIFETIME WARRANTY on materials, yet they refuse to honor it even when there is a problem on the first day.
Do you think they will honor their “lifetime warranty” down the road should it be required?
Think very hard about the price they will charge you for what you get before you sign (and throw your money away)…

Re-Bath Fails Again. Same Crappy Work, Different Day

They came back Saturday the 22nd of March; at least they came in the morning, later than they said they would be back, but still in the AM. One would think they could be on time, especially when they are staying locally so they can be on time. But one would be wrong…

Considering it was a “One Day Installation” and they had already spent a full day of working on it the day and evening before, we expected them to be done by midday.

Well of course they weren’t. It was about 3:00PM when they finally claimed they were done. And they repeatedly had to remind us that they were working on Saturday and not getting paid for it, and that it was keeping them from their families.
Imagine! They are feeling inconvenienced? Boo Hoo.
Give us a break! Of course they were getting paid, they would not have done this for free, but to whine to us that this was keeping them from their families when their own tardiness and slow working caused us to miss yet another family function and also miss work ourselves, therefore losing income.
We believe we were suffering from what they were complaining about on a much higher scale. The gall of these people!

We inspected the installation and at first glance it looked pretty good. Then we opened the doors and noticed that they were not hung straight. At least this time they were not upside down, but they were obviously crooked. Luis, the lead installer told us they do that on purpose to keep the water in.
Huh? When the doors were closed there was a gap from about midway up.

Then we noticed the window trim was not even installed square to the window, or the walls. And the caulking was very sloppy, AGAIN. Even after we pointed out how poorly the caulk was the first time and we were told they could make it right this time, they failed.
Isn’t caulking one of the most basic skills one should grasp to do any job of this type? Even we can caulk 100% better than these clowns.
But they claim to be the professionals. And on top of that, the best Re-Bath of San Diego has to offer no less.
If that’s the best they have we sincerely urge you to look elsewhere and avoid using them at all costs, because it will cost you…

The linoleum floor was now cut away the entire length of the shower pan. They said they would have to trim a little to make it fit, but since the floor had been damaged so badly by Re-Bath of Ca, they just hacked it up even more and made it a total mess and fully revealed the wood floor. Now there was a big gap between the floor and the pan. Any water that will most assuredly splash out (from the incorrectly hung shower door) will spill onto the now fully unprotected raw wood floor. And they use the same Re-Bath line, “it was that way before!”

Then we see that the panel where the fixtures are (the one that leaked) is bowed in! Just like the opposite wall was from the earlier installation! These guys make fun of the crappy work done by their contemporaries, yet only succeed in repeating the same mistakes!

We see white caulking slivers embedded it the clear silicone. We see smears of glue or caulk or silicone on every wall, and gobs of silicone in the shower. We see the paint on the walls and ceiling is damaged further. We see the baseboards are cut off and missing. More damage than repair if you ask us. Everywhere we look it becomes more and more apparent the Re-Bath installers sent to us are inept sloppy hacks that resort to lies to explain why it doesn’t look like what Re-Bath sells.
They have no answer for how all these problems manifested themselves (again), but admit that the bow in the wall is a mistake (finally!) assure us that they will return and replace it. They also assure us Myrna, the manager of Re-Bath of San Diego will call us first thing Monday morning. You see where this is going don’t you. Do you think we received a call? Of course not, this is Re-Bath!
